Ty Gibbs Appreciation Thread

I remember when Joey Logano was a “bust” and a historically bad driver at this stage of his career.
...and I think the solution may be the same. Get out of JGR. Legacy will have a spot after the John Hunter thing goes away.

As much as I don't want to rehash a bunch of old stuff, it's one thing to have the talent for the highest level, but the people that succeed most often have the wisdom and the maturity to go with it, and figure out how to manage the pressure and the expectations. Sometimes I think adults do the worst jobs with the kids that need a grounding influence the most.

You're not entirely wrong. But at the same time, I don't think anyone is hiring Ty Gibbs to race for them that isn't related to Ty Gibbs. Does he have any actual personal sponsors or just the ones he's been handed?

Most drivers take at least three years to get acclimated to Cup. The days of someone winning 2-3+ races their rookie year have been over for some time.

And I don't need the Josh Berry comparisons either. Berry's that dude and I've been telling y'all that for a decade.

None of this really has anything to do with my question. No one else is hiring him unless he has sponsors. Does he have personal sponsors?

Ty Dillon keeps getting rides.
Ty Dillon never quit his uncle's team to get a better ride. His grandfather paid for them in the form of technical partnerships and the like. IDK how it would make sense that Joe Gibbs would fund Ty Gibbs' seats if Ty chose to leave the team and race for a competitor.

Agreed. Winning Vegas on speed is impressive. With the tricky pit road and quick speeds without the benefit of a yawed out car, the cream always rises at LV

It's been 6 for Bell and they say 6 years is a pretty common number for a driver to hit their stride on average.

Very possible. Bad move. I can't get my head around how a rookie crew chief is a good thing for a driver who was (and now has) on the brink of losing all of his confidence.
Please remember that JGR gave Joey Zippi for a crew chief and that did NOT work out. Joey would have been better off with a rookie CC.

I don't know about a rookie crew chief. Maybe someone with experience who wasn't Zippy, or maybe he wasn't going to fit at JGR regardless. I'll put that on my list to check when I get my alternate universe portal working.

Logano didn’t work at JGR. Kyle Busch didn’t work at Hendrick. Brad K had to go to Penske to get his shot and took 2 years to start running up front.

Not every driver fits with every team. And not every super team will have 3-4 cars competing for wins and championships at the same time.

Since Josh Berry was mentioned, there’s another example. Dude did next to nothing at SHR (albeit on the way out) with Rodney Childers on the box. Moves to the Woods with an upstart new CC and he’s a new man.

Zippy wanted no part of the kid. None. Not a fair comparison IMO.

I'm not a Ty Gibbs fan, but the kid recently lost his dad and is in a slump. I'm not going to bottom feed it. The whole JGR bunch with the exception of Bell is in a slump quiet as it has been kept.
Clearly your account has been hacked. Hope this gets resolved soon.
