WNBA 2025

Really like some of the picks Caitlin's made for her All Star team... Aliyah, Sabrina, A'ja, Kelsey Mitchell, and both of the rooks I like out of DC.

Clark and Collier had the ability to make trades after the draft concluded -- and one immediately materialized. The two captains agreed to swap head coaches, sending the Liberty's Sandy Brondello to Team Clark and the Lynx's Cheryl Reeve to Team Collier.

I like the trade of coaches but I wish that Caitlin could also have pulled of the trade of Sabally for Breanna stewart.

What’s the story on Angel smacking the clipboard out of her coach’s hand?

I'm cool with passion but not cool with disrespect toward a coach.

Then again I don't like her anyway.

Tried to pull the game up on league pass since I’m not at home.

It asks to verify my location and then doesn’t load.

$10 a month for something that doesn’t work at all.

If you’re playing defense against CC, you’re allowed to trip, hack, push and shove, and do whatever and not get called.

If you look at A’ja or Angel, it’s a flagrant foul.

I watched a couple minutes of it and it is just unwatchable other than the impure thoughts I had about Sophie.

This league hates Caitlin Clark and it’s unwatchable.

The players try to hurt her. The refs hate her. It’s bad.

She’s the reason people watch.

Blowout in the second.

Indiana has given up and I can’t blame them when the refs have made it clear they aren’t allowed to play.

This league deserves to go bankrupt.

There was an absolute lid on that Fever basket.
I saw it..... and I am sticking to it. Gonna take CC
a couple games to get back to triple double land.

Yeah the shots weren't going in.

I have a serious problem with this officiating though. I know it's bad across the league, but it's consistently bad on both sides of the ball. But when it comes to Indiana, it's just so one-sided no matter the crew that this is a bigger problem. One of these other teams could literally go out there, shank Caitlin Clark with a knife, and then get to go to the free throw line.

Indiana should make the playoffs but I don't think this is a playoff team.

They won't beat Golden State ... ever. They continue to lose to other bad teams. With Angel Reese now looking like the best player in the league, they will lose to Chicago here on out.

I can assure you they won't win if Stephanie continues to insist on a half court offense. It's like watching Secretariat pull a plow.

Lets not forget, the media published countless think pieces when Angel Reese only got to go to the free throw line twice the other night, and then posted articles praising the refs for showing clear favoritism toward Angel Reese yesterday and giving Queen Angel "what she wants."

I bet there won't be a single thinkpiece written about how Caitlin Clark was on the losing end of every single call ... AGAIN!

The announcers were furious too when I was watching about the officiating. They kept calling out all the fouls GSV committed and got away with. From what I've seen on X, it only got worse.

With that said, the trend is continuing with Caitlin. She's playing TERRIBLE and something has to give. She isn't a top-10 guard right now. It actually does suck that all the Angel fans are being vindicated as Caitlin is playing like one of the worst players in the league and Angel is looking like the MVP.

After watching a few minutes of the Phoenix game, it's safe to say Dewanna Bonner used Indiana to get what she wanted with Phoenix.

She's playing great. It's almost like she didn't even try in Indiana.

Joke of a league.

Haven't seen that game yet, but I will. Gonna watch Valks/Fever first. Having watched DB with Connecticut last year, I can say that she's obviously one of the all-time greats, but she's definitely streaky. When she's on, she's ON, and vice versa when she's off.

Saying that DB "used" Indy doesn't make any sense. There was no need for her to "use" them. She was a free agent and could have signed with any team she wanted that would take her. She could have chosen Phoenix in the offseason, but she chose Indy, and it didn't quite pan out. Sometimes that just happens despite hype, expectations, and the best of intentions. It is what it is.

You know, I'm sick of the whole being upset if you can't be on the same team as your girlfriend thing, or demanding to be on the same team. And I'm very disappointed about how Bonner handled the whole thing. She could've requested a trade and at least gone to the games and still supported the other players who looked up to her as a legend until then. Instead, she created a crisis.

And I'm actually disappointed Phoenix signed her after Dallas took a stand trading away NaLyssa Smith.

This nonsense has to stop.

Everything this year has made this league look exactly like what people who make fun of it say it is. The statements from players and media talking heads about how Paige Bueckers is welcome in the league because of her public statements on social issues, Angel Reese's race hoax to start the season, the continuation of hack-a-Caitlin, players taking "personal time off" for "mental health" in a sport with an extremely short season, players making statements about how upsetting it is not to play on the same team as their girlfriends, the crappy officiating, giving certain players special whistles, demanding Caitlin Clark apologize for something that didn't happen and not making Angel Reese apologize for perpetuating a hoax, Kelsey Plum calling fans creeps for wanting her autograph, and so on.

It would be easy to ignore all the off court drama. But when it affects the on court product, it makes it hard for me to enjoy something I REALLY want to enjoy and see take off.

The next CBA needs to come with media training, among other things. If these girls want to be paid like professional athletes, as they should be, they need to be professional athletes.

This is basketball, not Camp Happyface. This is a professional sport, not a day care.

While I'm at it, I haven't even gotten to this one:

Angel Reese on the cover before the actual face of the league, because The W and the media have decided they will not rest until "Double Double Queen"/"Bayou Barbie"/"Double Double Barbie" is the face of the league is insane.

I've noticed that none of the owners or players complain when Angel Reese's face is plastered literally everywhere. Magazine covers, cereal box covers, McDonalds, videogames ... it's celebrated. Caitlin Clark was on ONE magazine cover and the entire league went bat**** demanding "everyone" be represented.

And it's so much worse after that entire race hoax of hers to start the season, which set the tone for this season.

The W needs SERIOUS leadership that's going to put a stop to the pandering to this crap and start making business decisions.

DB actually did request a trade. The Fever didn't get any offers for her that they liked, so they let her walk.

As for the rest of this tirade, I've told you this before, but I really think you pay way too much attention to all the off court/social media stuff, and it shows. You seem pretty miserable and negative up here most of the time. This is basketball. It should be fun to watch and talk about, not upsetting.

If it's bothering you that much, stop watching it, or just take a break and come back to it later. It's not going anywhere.

With all due respect, your favorite player isn't being hacked at, shoved around, and bullied like the court is a WWE ring. Your favorite player isn't on the losing end of almost every controversial call. You can watch your favorite player hoop and interact with other fans on social media channels without getting tons of replies and comments from trolls and from the most toxic fanbase in all of sports.

My entire point here is the drama has to stop. And it won't, for reasons Christine Brennan's book points out.

The right has a point about wokeness destroying things, because the WNBA is a perfect example of that. With Caitlin and Paige out there, plus JuJu Watkins on the way, this sport is constantly trying to explode in popularity, but is constantly being held back because of wokeness, having to protect peoples' fragile feelings, and having to pander to the toxic Angel Reese fandom.

Keep in mind, I work in sports business. This is something I live and breathe. When Dale Jr came to a race I did the promotions for, and our local drivers bitched and whined about Jr getting too much publicity, I told them to shut the fukk up, told them thousands of people were coming to see him, and enjoy the fact that they'll get to race in front of the largest crowd to ever attend a race at the venue and be a part of the biggest sporting event in the history of the county.

Which is EXACTLY what the WNBA should've told all these players. STFU and enjoy the sold out arenas, the chartered flights, the imminent payraise, the massive TV audiences, and so on.

I'm obviously not gonna get into politics with you up here. If this is your response to the innocuous two sentences of mine that you quoted, you really need to take a break from the WNBA. You're way too invested. Take a step back.

Actually, I'll shorten my thoughts down to this:

The WNBA does NOT want me to be a fan. They do NOT want the millions of us who started watching for Caitlin Clark here. They think we're bad fans.

Nevermind that I bought League Pass two years in a row to support the league even though America's Girls' games are on national television.

Nevermind that I've watched other teams, such as Washington (I REALLY like those rookies).

Nevermind that I'm learning more about the history of this league and the greats of the past.

Nevermind that I can probably name 10+ players (probably 20+ players) on the fly.

Instead, they want a toxic fanbase that:

Doesn't have League Pass and bitched about how all of Angel's games should be on national TV instead.

Doesn't watch other teams, unless they're talking shiit about Caitlin Clark.

Doesn't learn about the history of the league and the greats of the past, and actually bitches and whines when legends of the past are honored.

Can only name two players.

I want every single one of you who posts in this thread and anyone who lurks to (continue to) be WNBA fans, regardless of whether you happen to agree with my basketball philosophy or not.

The WNBA is a relaxing cooldown entertainment activity for me. I'm too old and laid-back and have been watching basketball for too long to pay any mind to anything negative that anyone has to say about my favorite players, how often they get foul calls or get fouled, etc. I just don't hold space for the negativity. It's just how I am. I'm not tribal at all with it.

My favorite players are grown women who can take care of themselves and don't need me to defend their honor online. Sure, I'll happily be their li'l hype man from time to time, but any more than that is too high of an investment level for me.

If you truly feel the way you feel about this league, I really think you need to at least take a step back for a while. Life is way too short to be miserable watching something that is supposed to be fun and entertaining. Your mental health has gotta come first at the end of the day.

Well, for starters, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

I turned the game on, then back off because of the typical shenanigans and then saw all the chattering animals on X.

All the other nonsense aside, all The W has to do is have fair officiating. They need to start having these official reviews and challenges reviewed in New York, for starters. If Indiana games were called like the other games, which is still terrible officiating, I'd be fine with that because at least the calls are bad on both sides of the ball.

They have to get control of the goon league stuff too. If I want to watch Royal Rumble, I'll go find it on Peacock.

Oh, I know, just like Angel's coach knew regarding the clipboard. :lol2:

Looking at W Twitter was your first mistake, LOL. The big social media sites are cesspools, especially when it comes to sports, and the W is no exception. Stop looking at that stuff. It's just Haterade fuel.

And yes, like I said earlier, we agree regarding the officiating, along with what feels like most of the players and coaches at this point. Granted, I don't think I've ever watched a sport where folks didn't complain about the officiating. It's a tough job.

It's never going to be perfect and nobody will ever be satisfied.

But again, when it comes to Indiana games, the bad officiating every other team receives would be an upgrade for the Fever. Like, it would still be beyond horrendous, but at least the Fever would get a few good calls and get a few bad calls in their favor.

I said this last year and I stand by this to some degree... because of how outspoken other players are in their belief that Caitlin Clark gets special treatment and gets too much exposure, I think the refs go out of their way not to seem like they're showing favoritism.

(Caitlin would do herself A LOT of good to quit chirping at the refs as much as she does.)

Like, we see how this league reacts to some of this crap. Angel Reese complains about officiating and then gets 100% of the calls the very next game? Team owners complain about Caitlin Clark being on the cover of a magazine and getting an award, so now Angel Reese is on the cover of everything. And as Christine Brennan points out, Cathy Englebert and others in the WNBA front office were physically incapable of talking about Caitlin Clark without going out of their way to bring up Angel Reese. It was always "Caitlin Clark AND Angel Reese."

I started watching the Valks/Fever game, and there are about 5 minutes left in the first half. I did see CC get grabbed by her jersey and not get a call, but other than that, nothing particularly egregious so far. Valks are mostly just playing good D as usual.

I'm assuming that all the bad calls and the announcers complaining about them will come later. My favorite analyst, Debbie Antonelli, is on, so if she has something to say about it, I'll certainly listen.

Respectfully, I've made my opinion clear on Brennan already. No need for me to rehash it.

Ran out of editing time - I'm also so over the feud between CC's and Angel's fanbases. Like, I could not be more done with that than I am right now. Do not care. I think it's beyond ridiculous and have nothing against either player whatsoever.
