Already?

OK I'll go then..... Add the boot!

Matt, you're up. ;)

The NNS thread has been up for a while now and I haven't caused blood to seep from anyone's temple in quite some time so what the hay.

I 2nd adding the boot.

Yeah, Yeah, I know it's animated but it'll still give you a good idea as to what this could add the the Watkins Glen experience. More passing zones can't be a bad thing IMO. If you are familiar with the track layout at all, you should have little doubt where the boot begins and ends in this animated footage.

Thats pretty cool DP.

Hey I'm all for them running the boot if it makes the racing better. My concern is that it will just allow the field to get spread out even further while not increasing passing opportunities.

o_O

The boot will spread the field out?

The opposite effect I'm sure.

Unless some guys get lost and end up in the parking lot, it will tighten the field up. The fastest car on the straights may not handle those turns as well as cars with more camber. As far as passing , it would be a crazier version of Sonoma's turn 11.

Longer course typically=more room for cars to spread out. (just like on ovals)

Logistically speaking I don't see where NASCAR, the track or the networks would be able to justify the cost adding the boot. They'd need more officials, spotters, facilities, grandstands and camera stands. Other than a few of us hard core fans I don't think most people even care enough about it for NASCAR to bother with it. I've watched other series run it and I didn't see what the fuss was about. But we'll not know unless they try it. If it turns out that it's not worth it they can always revert back to the present course. Either way I'll watch every part of every lap because that's what I do.:)

How can it cost more to run the boot here and it cost the SAME to run the Nationwide race at the big track in Indy as compared to IRP????????????

Only 43 to attempt qualifying? I'm going to have to dust off the BOLD Prediction Thread. It looks like someone prediction may become true soon. I can't say that I ever remember only 43 attempting a race since the move to a 43 car field.

Queue the comments on how the networks require a 43 car field followed by the request to post the link to that unproven fact.

Yep its just a number. I will continue to go to races and watch and follow stock car racing regardless of the number of entries. The best in their fields will be there and race just as hard whether its 43 or 23 entries. I dont care and any true race fan dont either.

WTF does that have to do with anything? Are you trying to be obtuse again?

that word that the guy out of shawshank redemption said

Andy: how can you be so obtuse

No mention of TV contracts.
Exactly. People keep posting it as fact but they've never posted a link to back it up.

This.

The week of the Indy race you said it would cost the same amount of money to run the Natiuonwide race at the the Speedway as it would cost to run it at IRP.Which the Speedway is much bigger than the boot. Now this week the cost of adding the boot to the race is far to great?????

Now comes the part where you say you didn't say that and since you want to start with names again I'm not going to go thru your worthless posts to prove it .
Again it is just a simple question.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem as well as difficulty grasping very simple concepts? Or maybe you are just having fun at my expense here. Seriously, if you can't figure out that running both series at the same track is logistically cheaper than 2 seperate tracks then I really feel bad for you.

What game is this DP?

I just heard an interesting stat about Watkins Glen.

Eight of the current top 10 have never won a race @ Watkins Glen. The two that have are Stewart(2002,04,05,07,09) & Harvick(2006).

1 Dale Earnhardt, Jr. 744
2 Matt Kenseth 739 -5
3 Greg Biffle 738 -6
4 Jimmie Johnson 736 -8
5 Martin Truex, Jr. 694 -50
6 Tony Stewart 691 -53
7 Brad Keselowski 690 -54
8 Denny Hamlin 683 -61
9 Kevin Harvick 681 -63
10 Clint Bowyer 679 -65

Do you think that we are going to have a repeat winner out of the top 10 in Stewart or Harvick? Do you think this weekends winner will come from the remaining eight members of the top 10? Or, do you think the winner this weekend comes from outside the top 10?

I'm going Johnson, as in Jimmie.
