Cup Race thread - Watkins Glen.

Keselowski from the 8 with no WGI win, but Tony or Ambrose are my favorites to win.

I just heard an interesting stat about Watkins Glen.

Eight of the current top 10 have never won a race @ Watkins Glen. The two that have are Stewart(2002,04,05,07,09) & Harvick(2006).

1 Dale Earnhardt, Jr. 744
2 Matt Kenseth 739 -5
3 Greg Biffle 738 -6
4 Jimmie Johnson 736 -8
5 Martin Truex, Jr. 694 -50
6 Tony Stewart 691 -53
7 Brad Keselowski 690 -54
8 Denny Hamlin 683 -61
9 Kevin Harvick 681 -63
10 Clint Bowyer 679 -65

Do you think that we are going to have a repeat winner out of the top 10 in Stewart or Harvick? Do you think this weekends winner will come from the remaining eight members of the top 10? Or, do you think the winner this weekend comes from outside the top 10?

I'm going Johnson, as in Jimmie.

I think the winner will come from outside the top 10. Jeff has a good chance, I'm thinking Kyle has a good shot too.

I'd like to see Jeff get a victory on Sunday. His luck turned around 'big time' last weekend. Kyle on the other hand. He really has to get back on track, and fast.

If practice is washed out today they may just practice tomorrow (scrap quals) and line them up on points Sunday.

Kyle lost an engine in Nationwide and just spun in cup practice. Not a good weekend so far for little Busch.

Dang right! Why the heck did they even make them if they're not going to use them? There's no reason that they can't race in the rain.
The only time I have seen them used was to scale a car at the shop and it doesn't rain in the shop.

I hear ya. Put the wiper blades on along with the rain tires and have at it.

That's the spirit. Blow away the puddles and do the best you can. If fans can sit in the stands during a dangerous storm, that's the very least the drivers could do.

The sad thing is, there are many people out there that probably believe that it would be a good idea.

I wonder what the wildcard will look like after this weekend. We may even get a new player with a win.

I would rather watch 30 minutes of cars on a shallow tread tire dry a damp track than 2 hours of jet dryers. So what if they average 100 instead of 120? Then we'll see some tire strategy for sure.

No TV coverage for 8am Cup practice. Not sure if NASCAR.com will have live leader board.

O.T. - Republican Nominee "Mitt" Romney has chosen Paul Ryan as his running mate. Ryan's grandfather was a USAC Sprint car racer in the 1950s (per Wikipedia)

I'm sure glad speed didn't bump that infomercial called truck U just to cover the dumb old cup practice.

Most are probably aware but Nascar.com has a live leaderboard running for the current practice session. Bowyer has moved to the top with a 125.462 mph
