After leaving JGR, Tony said he lost 3/4's of his fans when they went to Toyota. Seems silly to me.

I can believe that.
Back to the topic at hand, I thought the original penalities were too severe since JGR does not build their own engines. And it's not like the issue with Kenseth's engine was anything that would have given them a major advantage. So I thought it was a good decision to reduce the penalities.

I'm a fan of Tony, my pops is a Chevy man but I'm not a gearhead myself so I don't really care.. only thing with the cars for me is the look.. The gen 5 cars looked like ****.. I like the Gen 6 cars much better.

With the kind of season he's having, I bet he wishes he was back in the 20 car right about now...
Tony also had a dirt car program that was GM based and supported by Chevy at the time when Gibbs switched to Toyota. So it was awkward for Tony to be driving a Toyota in cup.

Yeah, it was. Everybody knew Tony was a Chevy guy and had deals with Chevrolet in other racing series. In hindsight it should have been obvious that Stewart would leave JGR for a Chevy team.
Whatever happened to SHR, they came out of the chute strong and got a Cup. After that they haven't done anything. Tony is twice the driver that is Newman. They have a lot of work to do.

Hey I'm new here and don't mean to piss anyone off, but how is this fair to the teams that build their own engines. I don't think each individual team at Hendrick inspects their engine, rather they just get them from the engine department and drop them in their car. Will the 5 get blamed because his owner has an engine shop, but the 20 can get away with it because their engines come from outside? Like someone said earlier if this is the case, the teams with an engine shop should change the name so they can blame a third party if they get in trouble.

I didn't hear anywhere that the ruling was related to the engine parts being made by another engine builder . In fact ,I don't know if ANY reason was given. It may be that any engine builder could have received the same results .
You got it right, a bunch on here somehow think that just because it was "sealed" and built by some off site engine builder that the racing team is blame less. Most of them are brand loyal, with cotton in their ears and wearing blinders. All the teams use outside vendors for their parts uh duh. All of their engines are inspected before they are "sealed" and sent to a team. They are stuck on stupid. This has been going on for years before a Toyota motor was made. just learn to live with it Joeyp. The Toyota people will figure it out and fix the problem or continue to pay the fines, just like the other teams have learned.

I'm sure glad that I don't have a specific engine choice in Nascar racing. It leaves my options open to choose different teams to root for. Right now my favorite teams are running Chevy and Toyota, but I do have a nationwide driver running a Ford engine. I wonder when VW is going to jump into the mix!
Wa hey, Fiat bought Chrysler. Let em stretch out one of those little Fiats and put a V8 in there..here we go. Italian team.

The Grand Sport is powered by the same 8-liter W-16 engine that develops a total of 1,001 horsepower and 921 pound-feet of torque. The supercar can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds and can hit a top speed of 252 mph, but it is limited to 217 mph with the roof down.

I agree. A few years ago I had a VW van that I used as a beach van. I bought it with a bad engine in it and then I put a new engine in it. It sucked on the freeways but it was pretty cool driving up pacific coast highway along the ocean though Malibu. I think I might have been going through my midlife crisis at that time, but it was a chick magnet thats for sure.VW would need a 2 engines
