New "what are you listening to thread"

If my luck holds up I will be listening to Blake Shelton @ 8pm. He announced that he would be doing a free show here in Greenville tonight just a few hours ago.

For about a year now, I've been listening to books on tape/cd. Actually I grab the books from my local library's digital site and download them. I've now listened to more than 120 books. My favorite, Michael Connely's Harry Bosch series, David Baldachi's differing series, Nelson Deville's John Corey series and of late, Lee Child's Jack Reacher series.

Question, has anyone seen the movie "Reacher"? If so and you haven't read any of Child's novels, did you know that Jack Reacher is described as 6'5" weighing 250 pounds? How tall is Tom Cruise and what does he weigh?

Bright sunny shiny day, eating at the Hymen in Charleston.

now its "you make loving fun" by Fleetwood Mac

I'm glad you are enjoying the Harry Bosch series. I thought you would. I don't remember if I recommended Baldachi to you or not. I really like most of his stuff, but I don't think I've even heard of the differing series. I'll have to check it out. I'll check out the other ones you mentioned too.

I will certainly participate, as I do with pretty much any music thread, but I still can't watch videos so I may repost something without knowing it if the song name and artist are not listed outside of the video box. I'm gonna go way out on a limb and guess that the videos I can't see on here are not the song I've been listening to all day. Got it in my head a while ago and can't let it go.

Gloria Jones - Tainted Love

Many of you will remember Soft Cell's 1981 remake of this song. They are kinda similar, but Soft Cell's is pretty cheesy.

Check out the Scorpions cover of the same song on their latest release.

`Around my house you can hear most anything. It could be Bluegrass, Oldies,70's, 80's, Disco, Contempary Gospel. I love all types of music. Thanks to XM Radio and Pandora I can listen to most anything.

Michael Connelly series are great reading. Just finished Dog Tags and The Presidents Secret Service. If you liked any Nelson DeMille books, "The Gold Coast" is one of his better novels.
The best series of books i ever read were written by the late Elmer Kelton; and my all-time favorite is titled, "The Time it Never Rained." A novel that takes place in western Texas around 1950 and of hard-scrabble farmers who lived through the droughts during that period.

I had the warden pick up two books for me at the library yerterday. One was supposed to be the first of the John Corey series called Tripwire and also what was an early Jack Reacher book as well, it's called Plum Island. I'm not sure if it was the first in the series or not.

I'm pretty much the same way. From Bluegrass to Metal, from classic Rock to 80s New Wave. No disco though. ;)

I listen to cable news in the morning switching between the stations. Then I play spin the radio dial and listen to everything from big bands to classic rock. Occasionally talk radio. I DON'T listen to the stuff they put out as music today.

My wife is the disco lover, but I can still listen to it. Still like to here a variety.

Whiz, I love Nelson DeMille's John Corey series. I've gotten just about everything that he wrote that is available in my library. I'll have to check out Elmer Kelton.

Styx: Pieces of eight & Grand Illusion

Used to think Disco and Rap sucked the most. They still do, but my wifes singing in the shower is close, I either crank up the sound system to drown out the sound, or turn off the lights to shut up her up.

With a voice like that, it's a good thing she fits nicely into her skinny jeans. :D

My thread! We lost so much good music! :(

Among other things, I've been listening to these two retro-rock bands lately, Purson and Blood Ceremony.

Still listening to Mothers. Their album "When You Walk A Long Distance You Are Tired" is my current album of the year.

In my quest to find more bands that have a similar mellow sound, I stumbled across Eleanor Friedberger. This album is solid.

In honor of the recently departed artist..

I was never a big fan, although I did like several of his songs quite a bit. I never liked his style of music at all. I do have a lot of respect for his influence on music and it is always a shame when someone dies.

On a lark I bid on a box of 45s on eBay... about a hundred or so came in the other day. It turned out to be mostly rock and country from the early 1970s, particularly 1972. Pretty much all stuff that was on the charts back then. Haggard is in there, though no Prince (he's too recent for this box). A lot of good old memories.

Dude, I love Maria Brink. Of course she's gorgeous, but I love her voice. In This Moment is about the only metal band I've been listening to for the past month or so.

This band started off kind of metal-ish and have been transitioning to softer, radio-friendly rock. I really like this song. Looking forward to this album, which drops next week.

I've always liked Alter Bridge, but I bought their latest album (Fortress) a couple of years ago and never got into it...until this weekend. I've listened to it two or three times through already, and it's probably my favorite of theirs now.

I had no idea this guy, Hunter Hayes, had this kind of talent until I watched a concert of his on Audience with my daughter.
