NASCAR needs a new car ASAP

I think if they raced Atlanta with the 670 package right now the racing would be great.

I wouldn’t mind ending the season in Charlotte with the Coke 600. I would move the Roval to Memorial Day Sunday.

Ending the season with its most grueling test seems fitting.

Why would they want to bite the hand that feeds them unless they had a reason to? If the drivers are telling people it sucks then why would anyone watch? They want to help, not hurt.

The drivers want fans to pressure NASCAR to make certain changes.

Also, guys like Hamlin and Harvick aren’t really known for things through before they speak.

Snark aside, Homestead was the perfect finale. This didn't need to be ****** with.

It's exponentially better than Phoenix.

For reasons we can discuss in The Podium, I don’t want Florida to have another marquee event. But I really dislike Phoenix and want to see the race moved to a better venue.

This also somewhat solves the weird problem of the Coke 600 being mathematically the most valuable race since it has 4 stages and thus more points (and playoff points) to earn.
 
Las Vegas as the Championship 4 race & having Phoenix only as 1 race and/or hosting earlier in October is ok by me. I think Phoenix is decent for a playoff race but Vegas could put on a show.

But the stage points go out the window with the finale.

It's a winner-take-all race.

One of the many reasons I hate NASCAR's playoff format. I don't even hate the idea of the playoffs, just the implementation.

The final round of the playoffs should be the same as every other round.

Which is unfortunate because there are a lot of other good reasons to do the championship race in Charlotte. Imagine doing an entire championship week in the area with all of the shops open and a big Fanfest in Uptown. Do it as basically a bigger version of Speed Street.

Except the fact that you have a pretty good chance of cold weather in November in Charlotte. Good luck trying to pack the stands in cold weather for a race during football season.

I'm from WI so my idea of cold is different from most but history has shown anything below 50 is too cold for them. I'd put money on it that it wouldn't sell out

Those same people will go to Bank of America Stadium so we know that they aren’t adverse to going to a November sporting event. If a regular season NFL game in Charlotte does better than the NASCAR Championship race, the sport is in trouble.

I’m on the coast but it doesn’t get cold here until mid January typically.

We race on New Years Day and it’s usually in the 80s.

The Panthers drew over 71,000 people per game last season. NASCAR should at least be able to top that for its championship race.

Keep the 600 where it’s at but….rotate the final championship race each year like NFL/College Football rotate their championship game.

Rotation among Vegas-Fontana-Nashville-Charlotte-Texas( nascar needs the DFW market, I believe they’re gonna fix that track)-Phoenix-Homestead. Do banquet in that host city, see you next February in Daytona.

They pass of tickets sold as attendance, My GF lives in Charlotte and we have gone to many Panther games and it was half empty, it didnt have really anything to do with the weather. The stadium holds about 75,000 and visually you can see that the 71,000 number is PR speak.

The Coke 600 on Memorial Day weekend and the Southern 500 on Labor Day weekend are the two dates that should be untouchable.
IRL tried to end their season with the 500 in the 90s and quickly abandoned that idea because the winner of the sports most prestigious race got less attention than the championship winner.
The championship races at Phoenix have all been pretty lackluster to me (except Ty vs. Noah), Homestead was a great venue for the finale.

Yea I wouldn’t want to move the 600 either, I was thinking as the final at Charlotte could be a 400 miler (the old fall race)or maybe even the Roval, I thought the new car raced well there last year on both configurations. Safety issues aside, I just feel the new Car has so much potential to be unlocked at various tracks, more so than what we are seeing now and I think the racing has been better than last year imo.

I didn't see the Coke 600 but other races on 1.5ers have been pretty good with this car. The tracks where the Gen6 struggled are where the NextGen is pretty good while NextGen racing is less good at tracks where the Gen6 usually put on excellent racing.
I thought last year's Roval race was awful but the reduced df package significantly improved the racing at COTA so I'm hopeful it will be better this year.
NASCAR is a mostly oval racing series so I'd be pretty skeptical of a season finale on a road course, at least as long as this playoff system is around.

People buy up huge amounts of tickets these days to re-sell at slightly higher amounts. Any event announced as a sellout in recent years has always had empty seats.
