Cup RACE thread --- Dover on a Monday

Some were over 10k which for a Cup engine was insane
I do this thing where I rewatch old seasons.

I just finished 06 (started the kick in 03) and I distinctly remember the spring race here at Dover.

Kenseth won, and was as excited as I've ever seen him. Racing was phenomenal. Like a totally different sport. And the engines just screamed on corner entry.

He's not wrong about not having any luck. But he also leads the series with wins and is the 1st seed, and within a race of the points lead.

He's the early season favorite for the championship on speed alone, imo. Fastest car all year.

A choke, a lack of execution, and a few bad luck races make it easy to forget the 5 has been the fastest car in most races this year.

I noticed a few lapped cars made it harder for Ross to pass during the end of the race. I think some drivers experienced Ross' rough driving and drivers have long memories.

Long memories?? It was payback for what happened in the first stage!

Mid 90s to 06 NASCAR was just incredible. The names, the racing, the cars, the broadcast quality, the crowds…

I was at work and tuned in just in time to see the last lap. Great follow up to Saturday. :)

Got to see this race or most of it, thanks to TSN for posting wrong start time. I didn't get to see the first few accidents but did get to see the #1 car do his usual crap shoot. I have noticed that the Xfinity series drivers are barely old enough to have a drivers license and have really no patience or skills for thought process. Now those drivers are in cup and there is little to none brain skills being used. A good example of that is the wreck caused by Mellon man. It is time Nascar starts to make those drivers pay very dearly for their actions and so I propose a new penalty.
In todays incident. Where it is very obvious that he was at fault, his finishing position should be last, at least behind any cars involved.
In future races of the current season, should he repeat the offence, the driver AND car will miss the next race along with his entire team.
His third offence would disqualify the team for the next 2 races. I think the teams will soon have it in the drivers contract that at this point his contract would be suspended. There is an old story about teaching a mule but first getting his attention with a 2x4 across the head.
Some of these drivers need that 2x4.

It was great to see Martin get his win the day after his brother got his first win. Proud moment for their poppa.

Is it time they adopt the F1 style formula of license points for rough driving infractions? Once you have enough points, your reward is an unpaid vacation!

I feel almost dirty for saying this, but I genuinely feel good for Truex today with all he’s going (gone) through and I hope @Revman is enjoying it.

Me too....and thanks man.....Really enjoying this one. Just awesome.

My thoughts are…

- Too much complaining about the racing being “dull”. It’s a 400 lap race in a bull ring that’s absolutely exhausting, definitely more of an endurance race to be honest and it always has been. Don’t forget how important clean air is going to be in a high speed small oval like that

- Ross needs to quit apologizing and just say “Yeah, slow dudes need to get outta my damn way”. If that’s how you’re gonna drive then just own up to it.

- This season needs some spice and hopefully Kansas, Darlington, Wilkesboro & Charlotte get it going.
