Kyle Larson Appreciation Thread

Don't know if this has been posted, but came across this today and thought it was pretty cool.

Running in the veteran group, not rookie today in testing at Indy. Currently 11th overall with 25 taking a lap
 
Anybody that follows Larson fairly closely knows there is all kinds of speed there, but the walls of Indy are pretty close and the cars are as fragile as china. Here's to hoping he keeps it of the wall and brings it to the finish and doesn't get hurt doing it.

iam kind of worried about him in those dam things, he was around 14 fast to today.

I wonder how fast they can go before hitting the G-Force wall.

Didn't the old CART series cancel a Texas race several years ago due to drivers blacking out at 241ish.

“It was his facility, it was his race weekend, so we went first and just had Dr. Olvey explain about the large amount of G forces. If I recall correctly, I think it was a 23-second lap and they had sustained G forces each lap for like 18 of the 23 seconds. You basically needed a G suit to race.”

Lap times at The Speedway are in the 37 second range. Much less time spent per lap with centripetal forces acting on the car / driver.

I don't feel the quality of the Indy Car field is what it once was....meaning, I think you have guys going 230 who have no business going 230. At those speeds, even one mistake from Larson could be big.....but that is not so much my worry as a mistake from a driver in over their head.....

Larson will need to temper his aggression.
 
The word going around is that Larson will parachute directly into the #5 car through the roof hatch.

I heard he's going to drop onto the racetrack, from the cargo area of his plane, inside his car at speed when the green drops fast and furious style.

The one thing for sure is no matter what any of his haters says about yesterday it will not make him feel any worse than he already feels. But I think he is being much harder on himself then he needs to be. He showed that he was capable of competing at the top level with the best Indy Car drivers in the world and to perform that good in his first race in one of those type of cars at those speeds was absolutely unbelievable and showcased just how great of a versatile driver he really is. Yes, he made a couple of mistakes which was expected but some of the veteran Indy Car drivers made even worse mistakes. Speeding on pit road is a mistake anyone could have made. It just showed just how hard he was trying to win that race. I really hope he gets another chance because that was exciting to watch, and I would love to see what he does if he is in the top 10 with only a few laps to go.
 
I feel bad for all of Larson's fans who watched him **** can a 30 point lead in the Driver's Championship.....15 bonus points.....the equivalent of three wins if he can't recover. Remember Charlotte in '22? He was a lock until he wasn't.

If NASCAR is going to celebrate and promote The Double, then maybe they just need to move the 600 to Memorial Day. The track at Indy is legendary, but the competition isn't since the split IMO....but I get it I guess.

As for the waiver.....NASCAR is in a corner. Probably just need to **** can the participation rule altogether, honestly. Can you deny the waiver to Larson? Probably should....but you really can't....see my opening statement. Wouldn't want to see his fans screwed.
