Deegan update

Some people will believe anything on this thread. Some say it over and over until they believe it.
It seems that some people think the Ford SIM just sets empty most of the time and you just stroll in whenever you feel like it. I mean, how many Ford drivers are there? 3-4? Should be open all the time...

<dripping with sarcasm>

Lacking other evidence, I tend to go with the simplest explanation.
  • We know she took AR branding off her social media pages on ... Thursday? That would seem to argue against any legal restrictions on publicly acknowledging a split.
  • Separations usually don't take a week to announce. Even the contentious DiBurrito split was announced within a few days, not a full week later. I don't see reason why this one would require a delay.
  • I have no reason to doubt the statements about the purpose of Logano's involvement. If they were looking for a quick sub, there are cheaper Ford pilots available, including Truckers who had the week off.
Her walking out seems like the simplest explanation.
Ok. You win. She quit. Got mad, threw her purse thru the front window, then stomped out. Yelling "I'm gonna tell my DAD!"

I might have made some of that up. Just cause i find it funny.

If I was -forced- to place a bet, that's what I'd go with. I find it the simplest thing to believe, other than the purse through the window.

But I also agree with those who say we'll likely never know the details or timing.

Thanks for not getting mad. Unless nobody told you, I can be quite hardheaded. Just doing my part to keep the tread from dying.

There's little in an Internet forum to get mad about, especially between people who have no other interaction, even less so regarding something as unimportant as sports and entertainment. I think we can agree her performance wasn't improving, regardless of whether we agree on the reasons.

So...there's one SIM for the Ford drivers?
*Edit* I'm pretty sure the teams all have their own SIMs

I'm interested to learn more about the decisions and timing behind the split. Hopefully more info becomes available.
Berry in the AMR 15 for this weekend at Pocono. I wanna see how crappy this AMR car actually is.
Equipment -
This is something that needs to be addressed. Some people love to throw out the " crappy equipment" argument but in reality that kind of stuff was happening back in the day when say James Hylton would buy or get for free Petty Enterprises old stuff just to be able to make it to the next race. Stuff that was outdated and would end up in the junk pile that no one wanted. To put it mildly this just doesn't happen today to that extent.
Any team that's involved in the top 3 touring series knows that to compete you have to have the latest chassis, engines and all of the parts and pieces that go along with it or their is absolutely no reason to show up at the track. The Cup series is a prime example, every team has the same stuff, its what you do with it, that's where the rubber meets the road. No longer can you build ( create) your own spindles, uppers and lowers, etc..... More than ever Its now people, the engineers that can find speed, they are vital to the teams and they cost a lot of money. We used to spend the majority of our money on creating new pieces, anything that we could do to find a hundredth of a second, now its the guys with the computers who are getting paid to find that. That's where the money goes.

So no its not the equipment, its the people and that includes the driver who is crucial to giving the engineers correct information. Crappy equipment really doesn't exist anymore. Does AM have the money to run with Gibbs, JR Motorsports, RCR, of course not and you cant lay 100% of the blame at Deegans feet but I can't give her a pass because she has done far less with that Car compared to Moffitt. Head to head she just doesn't have the talent.

ok guys, here a poll for you,no not that one. its how many of you watch the races.
how many just look at the results.
how many watch her youtube with her doing other racing ,mainly micos and go carts.
how many just dont like her because shes a girl and is way better racecar than you.
or my friend said she sucks.
maybe the ones that watch her races should be the ones on there talking about her.:dirtbike:

I don't believe that she will land a seat in a better ride than AM Racing. Everyone in the garage sees that she isn't performing.

I watch the races. I don't watch any of her YouTube videos. I don't dislike her. She hasn't shown that she deserves a better ride than what she just got fired from.

If she was gonna land a top tier ride it would have been at the beginning of this year, she did herself no favors so no,I think she is done

I watch the Truck and X races, and what coverage they do of her. I don’t care what she or anyone else is doing in go carts or micros or on dirt or on social media.

Just wait until Ford sticks her in one of the Haas Xfinity cars next year. I hope that will be worthy of 50+ more pages.

Didn't get fired. Didn't you get the memo? Threw a fit and stomped out.

DBC guys sure seem to think she got fired tho...

Dale Jr pretty much hits all the talking points.

That's all they are, talking points.

It's absolutely incredible how long "she qualified on the pole at Sonoma in 2019" has held up as an argument for her being the real deal or something. That was literally over five years ago.

While the jury is still out on AM Racing, we have three years of her being in race-winning equipment in the Truck Series and 26 races of her being in race-winning equipment in ARCA to go off of, so the sample size isn't as small as it's made out to be.

26 races in ARCA is plenty of time. Should she have stayed there another season or run part-time in 2021 and 2022? Probably. But I'm not really sure it changes much. The writing was already on the wall at this point.

Should she have only run Xfinity part-time this year and stayed in Trucks full-time? Probably, but we've already got three years of mediocre results in the Truck Series to go off of. I mean, ffs, she was paired up with Rich Lushes and didn't do jack****.

"Joey Logano didn't light the world on fire."

Another example of goalposts moving. Joey Logano had not run in the Xfinity Series for five years and is not exactly one of the best road course racers in the garage. Going into the race, people were saying that a top-10 would be a good day for AM Racing with Logano. Now, AFTER THE FACT, he should've won the race and him not doing so proves Hailie Deegan is the real deal.

I think she's got talent, but there is a difference between being able to drive a racecar and being able to race a racecar.

ARCA and Trucks have the same sorts of issues that the ladder series in F1 have: you race the same people in both and both have people go up the ladder based predominantly on access to money over results. Ultimately, what was she going to learn racing additional years in Trucks or ARCA that she wouldn't learn in XFinity racing the same people she's been racing the last 5 years (and I guess Justin Allgaier)? The same rationale that is leading Mercedes to push to put Kimi Antonelli in a F1 seat before he's even able to lead the F2 points is what gets someone like Hailie into a XFinity ride. I don't know that there's a place or role for a prospect like Deegan outside of that kind of speed run through developmental now because there's 50 other people behind her who might be better and adapt faster.

She may have been busy making more YouBoob vids, I dunno.
From past discussions here it was revealed that she wasn't often at the race shop, spent little time on the sim, etc. Like I said, I hope more info on the split becomes available. 🍻
You are correct, she was fired. She was removed from the car Saturday, she didnt remove herself which was evident by her salty X post. Its not hard to figure out who's the remover and who's the removee.

They are FOS, every minute of that interview can be cancelled by the fact that there was NO WHERE ELSE TO GO for her, she had no other offers that were better. Also that crap about she needs a team that has experience and can help her learn, she drove for Gilliland and Thorsport, 2 of the best teams in the truck series that had solid veteran crew chiefs.

She had a 13th place run in an Xfinity car and people went crazy and wanted to push her up the ladder but no one was taking except AMR. They said the trucks series was full of a bunch of squirrels and were all over the place and thats why she was running so bad and used the Xfinity race at Vegas as justification. I would say she should have stayed in Trucks but I'm not sure she had a ride there either.
