It doesn't feel like Lake Speed should be that old...

One thing I don't understand, why punish the driver of the car when he has no control over the shop, the pit crew or his CC?
I would think the the car chief who prepares the car for the track would be responsible for the installation of the weights. In this case, he should be fired along with the person who did the actual installation. This is no little mistake, the person just didn't consider this mishap costs millions of dollars. On the other hand when the driver makes a stupid mistake, the team can fine him.

Nascar DQ'd the car, that gave everybody involved with the 48 a penalty except some who are on salary. The car earned no points, they didn't advance to the next round but they will continue to race for 9th place. Who knows what is going to happen to those internally at Hendrick that were responsible for the weights.

Knowingly or not the driver still gets an advantage from the illegal car

Do we know that weights were the issue?

that was the issue on what I read. They also showed video of an object when Bowman bounced off the wall.

So it's ok to cheat then as long as the driver isn't aware of it? LOL!
