2024 Weather

West side. 5 degrees hotter in Woodland Hills today, 119, even though it’s only 5 miles from my house. They are in the south west corner of this end of the valley and I’m in the north west corner. We’re both just inside several mountain ranges, not much flow though here, gets breezy in the evening but the temps generally stay hot in high pressure conditions.

Got up early cause...apparently went to bed too early? Waiting for Hardee's to open. 13 minutes to 6AM and it's raining cats & dogs. At least they unlikely to be eaten in my town.

It's either feast or famine with weather here.

Somehow, we are in dire need of rain again. And now we have a coastal system that's supposed to dump about 5-8" of rain but so far, all of that rain has missed us where I'm at and looks like it will remain that way.

Still raining. Not quite as hard but get you pretty wet before you get in car. My dome light works fantastically. Even when it's raining!

I've got radar pulled up, the rain is finding all sorts of creative ways to miss us where I'm at.

Fall is usually very dry so I'd like to see some rain before we get to that dry season.

This is better than last year when it didn't rain at my apartment for three whole months.

From one extreme to another.

We had a tropical storm a few weeks ago that unleashed a ton of flooding, followed by weeks of no rain (except for the one day we had a race in that stretch). Then, a tropical system dumps a ton of rain. And now we're back to a VERY dry streak for the foreseeable future. And hot too, temperatures in the mid-80s with high humidity.

Cold front passed through and now the wind is cranking, with storms to follow shortly. A 30 degree temperature swing between today’s high and tomorrow’s high. Local weather station stays a high of 61 tomorrow, which will feel amazing! Technically it looks like a high of about 73 as that’s what it’ll be tonight at midnight, but it’ll keep dropping from there and wont rebound at all during the day tomorrow. Fall is here!

It’s supposed to be Fall, but we have just two days in the next 14 with a forecasted high of less than 80 degrees. Not gonna be much in the way of Fall colors it seems.

I got home from the Martinsville race at 3am. It was 78° with over 80% humidity. That's peak summer weather.

Today, it's in the upper 80s with high humidity.

And the seven day forecast shows a lot of 80s and lows in 70s.

I'll still take that over highs in the 30s, single-digit lows, and not seeing the ground for three or four months.

64F today. I’m not saying what it is, but’s gotta be some kind of indication of something.

The thing about that white stuff is that it can make a lame landscape more appealing. I actually enjoy snow hiking because we here in Kansas have some boring trails, so having trees coated with snow makes the hikes halfway tolerable.

Turned both A/C & ceiling fans off last night. Not too sweaty. Supposed to be in 70's from now to April. Maybe.
La Niña. I would expect some VERY warm days. Especially around the holidays.

New Years Day is always in the 80s here, and Christmas is a mixed bag. We’ve had tornado warnings on Christmas Eve before.
