Hard to say if any recent sponsor has gotten more bang for the buck than Lowe's has for sponsoring the #48. If they cut back on sponsorship, how could the CEOs of many other sponsors justify the marketing dollars spent on NASCAR with no where near the success that Jimmie has had. Not to mention...
I think the casual fan doesn't see or choose to recognize the teamwork aspect to NASCAR. It takes everyone from the owner, driver, crew and car chiefs, engineers, mechanics, pit crew, etc. to field a winning TEAM.
NASCAR won't trim the schedule until the TV contract runs out but they could easily manage to drop 6-8 races and I agree that the NHL and NBA could trim their schedules as well. I'm not even going to address MLB and their ridiculous 162 game marathon.
