    NBC coverage still TERRIBLE

That's a fair assessment. Whereas mine quite clearly jumped to conclusions. I'm just used to being able to quickly locate cable nets by either surfing a guide until I see it or typing the net name into the provider's search engine. I always thought Wally and Kyle were in competition to say...

    NBC coverage still TERRIBLE

No more Kyle Petty. He was the absolute worst. And that couldn't have been easy to accomplish seeing as everyone else with TNT from '07-'14 except Alexander were godawful, too.

    NBC coverage still TERRIBLE

That sounds like a personal problem, most cable platforms make it really easy to find USA because it's so popular. In fact, with the way Verizon FiOS stacks their tiers, if I'm watching something from one of my local channels and then start surfing, USA is literally the first cable channel I reach.

    Parker Kligerman

I remember back at Pocono when the pit reporters were making their way through the microbudget brigade, and he got one of them to open up on the differences between being there and being at a major team, and the driver went into this really detailed answer, vs. one of the other reporters whose...

40 car fields in Heat Evo? As long as the reviews are good, I'm buying as soon as I can buy the PS4 I'd need to play it.

Bryan Clauson had a nasty crash tonight apparently.

I just watched a repeat of him winning this year's Bud Oval Nationals, it's...kinda poignant, and bittersweet...

5 hour leaving bowyer/SHR signed anyways?

"Older" in this case = already been rebuilt Y number of times, as opposed to Johnson who will get a brand new block after Z number of rebuilds.

5 hour leaving bowyer/SHR signed anyways?

I heard they were recycling SHR chassis and leasing older Hendrick engines, and I assume that first tap is slowly being shut off w/ that team's move to Ford.

5 hour leaving bowyer/SHR signed anyways?

The announcement tabbed 5-Hour for 22 races on the 77. That's 14-16 (depending on whether exhibition events count) that the car needs sponsorship for.

the announcing has changed so much since 2001

I've noticed they never air Victory Lane when FS1 airs the race itself. The last VLane ep I had on my DVR before NBC came back was from the 600. And the same thing happened last year. That said, I also noticed NBCSN doesn't air Victory Lap at all during Fox's portion of the season, so Fox has...

Bryan Clauson had a nasty crash tonight apparently.

He had like eight USAC titles and a fair number of big race wins, including the Chili Bowl in '14. That sounds like elite stats to me.

Man, that was not the news I wanted to wake up to. RIP Bryan Clauson.

5 hour leaving bowyer/SHR signed anyways?

I think the reason for the "Monster-5 Hour conflict of interest" line is because of that scuffle Red Bull and Monster had when the latter signed on to Robby Gordon's team about ten years ago.

    Don't shoot the messenger

Cranks. I may or may not be one. But Tony did seem pretty remorseful when he had to announce that Newman wasn't coming back. And then a bit...tense...when the Busch deal was announced. Although that could've been on the principle of publicly saying they had no room for car number four only...

    Erik Jones Announcement Coming Sunday

Probably components of the deal involving him being on loan from Gibbs proper. It also makes sense if they're only looking to do a one-year charter lease.

    Don't shoot the messenger

I think Newman wanted to stay at Stewart-Haas, too. Allegedly, Tony Stewart wanted him, too. But Kevin Harvick brought the money and Kurt Busch brought the ability to drive a self-funded car to strong results, and those were enough for Gene Haas to overrule Tony...

Driver Ashley Stemme crowned Mrs America

That's the exact point - racing IS a hard mistress, but the charters artificially make things harder by shutting the door unless you're willing to spend the millions necessary to get a charter on the rare occasions when one becomes available. And the RTA members are the ones who decide who gets...

Driver Ashley Stemme crowned Mrs America

The difference was that, theoretically at least, it could've been any one of about 37 different cars, only seven were completely locked into the show. The (theoretical) odds were far different than they are in a system where only five cars are in any danger of not making the race, when enough...

Driver Ashley Stemme crowned Mrs America

Not really, there are 36 spots set aside for people who are willing to pay extra. And the richest of that group basically get to decide who stays and goes, and who gets to come in when someone goes. It's nothing like the world where a new Furniture Row entry could have co-existed alongside a...
