2014 Coca Cola 600 - Pre Race Thread

I am madder than Hell and I aint taking it no more.

Charlotte Motor Speedways freaking Address is in Concord North Carolina not CHARLOTTE!!!
^
5555 Concord Pkwy S, Concord, NC 28027
(555) 555-3200
^
Again note the Concord address. I have have included their phone number.
Please join me in calling the liars and ask them to stop lying about being in Concord.

Perhaps they have caused you to inadvertently lie when you said "I will be watching the races in Charlotte".

Stop the BS now dont let Bruton make a liar out of you anymore (and having to explaining that it is all Brutons fault is just like a really way, way totally AWKWARD conversation killer.)

So please call them hourly (555) 555-3200 until they do the right thing.

Thank you.
I hear ya. I called earlier. They told me that Bruton is petitioning to have Concord moved a little to the southwest by next year.

I'm only interested in one of the three races. The 600 starts at 3pm. That gives me time to take a motorcycle ride to the beach, feast seafood and be back in time for driver intros.

Well here on the right coast I can ride my motorcycle until 6pm, 3 more hours dude.

Well at least my internet motorcycles, I actually dont own one :).

My wife doesnt run from me any more, she just stands her ground and hits me with stuff

Well my wife has been complaining about my posting time. I have tried to explain to her that it rude to talk while I am posting, and that it is essentially interrupting me.I mean crap she is complaing about it now.

I showed her my highly informative race day schedule post in this thread, and my PSA informing the world about Brutons Concord lie. The girl just doesn't get the importance. I suppose she just married me for other sizeable reasons.

I informed her that if she wanted more communication from me that she could always read my writing here. How she missed something so obvious is truly bewildering.

Thats just how they are Greg, the important stuff just doesnt matter sometimes, what does matter is that WE appreciate your posts :D

Yeah, the Coke 600 has produced quite a few first time winners: David Pearson, Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labonte, Matt Kenseth, Casey Mears, and David Reutimann all got career win #1 in this race.

May we see another first time winner on Sunday?

A couple of caveats - Reutimann's win was a rain-shortened race and IIRC Mears' was a fuel mileage gamble and/or a situation where some of the leaders ran out.

Thank you. I try to prioritize and do the things with eternal values first.

Ha, yea I hear you because I live in Concord. I guess you could say the same thing about Chicagoland, which is in Joliet.

Regarding the traditions at Indy, those are great but don't forget how special the bagpipe rendition of Amazing Grace and the playing of Taps is before the 600. That is very moving.

Seriously Taps is always moving. I dont think I have what it takes to be a soldier. I dont think I could keep it together when Taps is being played for a fallen comrade or brother. It is always the most serious and somber event to me for the whole event. And it leaves a lasting impression.

Larson, this is his type of race. I expect both Gannassi cars to contend
I was filling our hauler up with fuel in Commerce Ga Tue night and Larsons hauler pulled in next to me. I would have talked to the guy, but i was just pulling out to go across the street to the hotel. I have a Thur morning flight out of Chicago, so i should get home just in time to watch the Coke 600 Qualifying.:pbjtime:

As for the other guys on that list: 9 championships and 246 wins between them.

Stupid work on Sunday will be keeping me from watching Manaco and Indy, but I'll be here for all 600 miles of NASCAR greatness :D

It's always annoying when a job gets in the way of fun. I had to miss the All Star race last weekend because of work.

My Sunday plans are getting more complicated. They are rolling out new systems at work next week, and I will need to be teaching new systems that will go live on Monday.
I will never know what possessed them to start the stuff on memorial day.

When they talked to me about yesterday, I explained that sunday was the big race day of the year, and I had built my schedule accorrdingly.
So they agreed abd I can teach it during the non racing hours.

But thats to much red tape and commuting. I will just start teaching at 6:30am and wrap it up before 11am.

Then it will be almost nonstop DVR catching up and being ready for the 600 live in real time.

You would think that Nascar would have a Friday night practice for the cup guys..Today's practice doesnt mean anything at all.

I mean like today's practice won't tell you how the car will be under the lights. Even qualifying the track will have changed.

All the teams are running under the same circumstances. This is a great race starting out under the heat of the day and moving to the nighttime hours. Doesn't mean a thing to me that they don't get the chance to practice under race conditions. Every single team will have to make adjustment off of experience and what the driver is telling them. Makes for some great racing IMO.
