2014 Fontana - Auto Club 400 - Pre Race Thread

These two are garage neighbors for the weekend...

Seriously, I hope Alan and Jeff are able to figure out the minor adjustments they need to say in front the whole race.

Looks like they have one of the cars to beat. Would be nice to get a win after the great start so far.

There's a ton of different aircraft flying around over the speedway advertising different products. I learned today that the Hankook Tire dirigible is also known as a brimp.

Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, site of this weekend's NASCAR race, has slashed its grandstand capacity by 26% to 68,000 seats from 92,000, a track spokesman said Friday.

The 24,000-seat reduction reflects the pullback in NASCAR's popularity from its peak levels in the mid-2000s, which partly was caused by the severe economic recession that started in 2008.

Auto Club Speedway's parent company, International Speedway Corp., had told Wall Street analysts last summer that it planned to cut capacity at certain tracks to escape the "quagmire" of too many empty seats.

And it's SOLD OUT --- SRO is available. :D

We figured out a way to get up onto the turn 4 skybox. It took the sheriffs about 15 minutes to get over there and get us down :D

My approach at sporting events is to act like you own the place.

Then when the real owners show up, it's time to move on . . .

And it's SOLD OUT --- SRO is available. :D

Auto Club Speedway representative: "How many tickets did we sell for the race?"

Lacky: "68,000 sir"

ACS Rep: "Ok, then cut the other seats and we will call it sold out."

Lacky: "yes sir!"

Hey it works for the Jaguars, why not race tracks!

--Easy there Andy it is just a joke.

larson love: where does he finish today? (sorry trl.)

honestly enjoying the debate. i'm kinda in the middle of today's discussion. no doubt the kid is going to be great. but there are still going to be big bumps along the way to fuel the arguements. hoping dillon matches him step for step to keep it going.

great to watch upcoming talent. and new topics to talk about.

Larson finishes in the top ten. I'm not sure if his line yesterday will translate. Don't get me wrong, he was awesome yesterday but he doesn't win, if he doesn't find that line.. If he finds a good line, top five. I doubt he'll win tho.

I still think Larson is the one that is going to take over the 24 ride when Gordon hangs his firesuit up. I know a lot of people think that is going to be Chase Elliott's seat though.

Don't worry Jimmie and Chad will make the necessary adjustments they always do and move to the front quickly.

I'm sure this will raise some hackles but the #48 team hasn't exactly impressed me so far this year. I'm not saying that they suck but it's the #48 team so I tend to expect more from them.

I believe we'll know after today and next week where they stand.

completely agree, but have been trying to temper my enthusiasm.

Chase Elliott already tests the 24 for Gordon and drives for Hendrick in the NNS. Larson is locked up with Ganassi for the next 4 or 5 years...

So I saw the Logano-Leno bit.
I just noticed that Logano, despite being skinny as rail, has popeye forearms. His forearms actually appeared larger than his biceps. Not sure how that is possible.
