2014 Fontana - Auto Club 400 - Pre Race Thread

Well I guess Denny Hamlin's "I never see him" comment came back to bite him. :p

For some reason I just cant stand Hamlin, but geez that dude has bad luck.

Hopefully Denny is alright.

I would love to see Sam make something out of this opportunity. Difficult task with a car he has no seat time in, though.

Of course the drivers and FOX Sports want the track repaved. The track's finally putting on a product worth watching - can't have that because it means drivers actually have to race. No wonder this sport is in a rapid decline.

Damned if ya do, damned if ya don't.

Watch it. Hamlin will miss a race, or more, and will make the chase due to a win. Someone like Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle, Kasey Khane or even Jimmie Johnnson may miss the chase but raced all 26 races. What a phucked up system NASCAR has created.

why not just make them all super speed ways? geeze...

I want racing not a pack of cars going 200 mph waiting for the wreck that could kill any one of heros/heroines

Folks that's what a old worn out surface does for racing.. Amazing

The drivers and fans are very rarely going to be on the same page as to what creates an entertaining race. Drivers want a wide racetrack where they have 68 lanes to choose from and can make an easy pass. Drivers want to be able to run wide open all race and not have to worry about tire management or anything like that. It's the exact opposite of what fans want.

I believe the driver has to compete in all the races to be eligible..UNLESS (Hamlins excuse) he has a injury. Wonder if he gets sick pay?

Why did they make that a rule? Everyone attempts the races. It's not like they 60 drivers competing for 43 spots. NASCAR will exempt anyone for anything.
Probably in case a part-timer wins a race, as in the case of Vickers and Bayne recently. They weren't eligible for Cup points then, but both Vickers and Mark Martin also came close to winning races in 2012 when they were points-eligible and splitting the #55.

Good god shes hot

Smoking hot. Horrid singer though.

I don't understand, Is he still gonna get the points even when he doesn't start the race or did you forget the :sarcasm: Thing.

Drivers have to attempt to compete in every single race (except in rare instances) in order to make the Chase.

Good point. I didnt think about that.

That makes a little sense, He gets no points today but can still make the chase with a win or two as long as he is still in the top 20 in points (or whatever the limit is).

Same. I know a lot of people around here strongly dislike him but he was dealt a ridiculous hand. He should at least have gotten a full time ride in Nationwide. He showed he was more than capable there.
