Darlington and the Martinsville races are my favorites. Always a classic imo.
Love the egg shape that eats those tires.

I hope we get long green runs with old and new tires going on all day. With a chance to see who is best at managing those full cyles.
That is the ultimate imo, a pure naturally beautiful thing, that needs no enhancements, or gimmicks.

Darlington Last 10 Winners:

2006 - Greg Biffle (Ford)
2007 - Jeff Gordon (Chevrolet)
2008 - Kyle Busch (Toyota)
2009 - Mark Martin (Chevrolet)
2010 - Denny Hamlin (Toyota)
2011 - Regan Smith (Chevrolet)
2012 - Jimmie Johnson (Chevrolet)
2013 - Matt Kenseth (Toyota)
2014 - Kevin Harvick (Chevrolet)
2015 - Carl Edwards (Toyota)

^ All that plus MotoGP at Silverstone. The best racing day of the year IMO.

Great day of racing on Sunday
Formula 1 has the Italian Grand Prix in the morning, Indycar is at Watkins Glen, Trucks on the road course, and to top it all off the Southern 500.
In my opinion, this beats the Memorial Day triple (Monaco, Indy, Charlotte).

Darlington is a great track with a soul and character that most tracks lack.

Southern 500 is my favorite race of the year. If I hadn't moved to the midwest, I'd be back this year (probably will make a trip again in the near future.)

I love all the throwback paint schemes. :)

We're participating in throwback week at Short Track Scene as well.

Anybody recognize this design?

Someone just told me Ken Squires and Ned Jarrett are going to be in the booth again calling the race (for a while). Last year, Ken did not shut up and hardly gave Ned a chance to talk.

I am just thankful that Darlington never let big city folks in Florence SC, **** them out of the naming rights.
It is Darlington and unlike an other unnamed track, the winning driver doesn't need to hold a cap gun and wear a Cowboy hat for a little swagger.

The retro 14 and 18 schemes are fantastic, definitely a cool touch for the weekend.

I've been waiting all year for this race. We're heading over from Atlanta. I went in 93 and 94 then not again until last year after moving from Michigan. Can't wait!

Can't wait had no idea the truck race was the same day probably won't pay to get in that but what an amazing race it's going to be; mother nature better cooperate.

I always look forward to this race every year! It's extremely high on my bucket list to attend but Labor Day weekend is nearly impossible for me to get off work. One day I'll make it down!

Also if anyone needs a ride from the Conway/Myrtle Beach area and back i've got two extra seats

I like 4, 6, 14, 15(especially),16, 20, 48 a lot.

Jimmie Johnson wants to wear one of Dale Earnhardt's old uniforms Sunday at Darlington.

Jimmie Johnson is already driving a race car at Darlington to honor Dale Earnhardt Sr., but the six-time NASCAR champion wants an authentic 1979 piece of memorabilia to go along with it.

Driving a blue and yellow No. 48 on Sunday to pay tribute to Hall of Famers Earnhardt and David Pearson, Johnson asked Dale Earnhardt Jr. to borrow one of his father's firesuits to complete his retro look.

"He's texting me, he's like, 'You got one of your dad's old uniforms and all that stuff?'" Junior said on his podcast, via NASCAR.com. "He wanted to actually wear it to intros, and it would fit probably. It smells like … every bit of 40 years old."

I'm really looking forward to this one, it really is a crown jewel. Should be great weather there, but unfortunately storms here so no watch party :(. Oh and I just learned the rest of my family will be going...without me. On the one had I'm pissed I can't be there with them and the other proud I've converted them into NASCAR fans. Let's go racing boys!

I sure hope so. I seem to love the races where tires become an issue long before a fuel run is over.
