Sad no body in stands. The twisted tea car is sharp! , may get a case for my birthday.

You can tell who practiced and who didn't.

Just goes to show how important it is to get some practice time in, no matter how small the window is.

Second laps on the tires look good.

A lot of drivers improved that second lap and that was one heck of a lap from Buescher to get in the top 25.

Oh boy, they're getting even faster now. Keep it up Penske boys.

Wow, the first time Jr has made it to the final round of qualifying?

That's the struggle right there.

Dumb question: is there anything about the track at Pocono that would prevent racing in a clockwise 'backwards' direction? Anything about pit road that would prevent it?

Guessing Joey is taking Brad of his Christmas card list for beating him out for the pole

Might have to re-align pit -in / out.

Are you looking at a deal on a bunch of right hand drive Cup cars?

IMO, about all that would have to be changed would be to move the filler spot on the car to the right side --- like they do for the road courses.
Oh, and tell the flagman to look the other way. :D

Regarding the big drain plate and bump outside Jr.'s garage stall: the place has 43 garage stalls and only 40 entries. Don't waste money fixing the problem; just close that stall. Duh.

I'm at a loss of seeing the appeal beyond a lap or two of running the cars clockwise. I'd also think that there would be a safety issue at having the drivers sitting on the wall side in the event of an accident.

It sets up the entries to the turns differently, especially having the long straight lead to 3 and the short cute to 2.

But yeah, having the driver side to the wall would be a huge factor.

DW: "... and this pit road is fairly easy to get on to."

That may be the first time I've heard a pit road NOT described as 'one of the trickiest on the circuit'!
I mean heck Kasey got into it backwards last year

Sure, I'm probably the minority on this but I really despise this qualifying format.
I like this format, and think it is much more interesting than single car, single lap qualifying. IMO, it was an outstanding change.

Back in the 1970's and 80's, I raced Pocono in both directions. But that was motorcycles, and using the infield road course which eliminated Nascar turn 3 from the course. Also ran Loudon both ways.

I remember one particular rainy weekend running Pocono clockwise, and I was "in the zone," by far fastest in Sunday morning (wet) warm up. Then the fog rolled in, shut us down, and wound up cancelling the race. Sh!t.

Thanks! I've seen footage of cars running the Loudon course, but only CCW.

The weather looks absolutely miserable tomorrow

Anybody think that this morning's Cup practice was weird as hell? Times all over the place throughout the session. Kind of think that the 11 might be lying in the weeds. Hendrick collection solid, and the 18 has a car IMO.
