2016 Richmond - Federated Auto Parts 400 - Pre Race Thread

Hamlin on the pole

NBC needs to get there TV timers right. Larson crossed the line twice in the green but was slower than the #11

First, for those who also weren't aware: http://www.legion.org/flag/code

Second, you're contradicting yourself. You don't want to live in a country where you're required to act in a specific manner, then you complain about others who choose to not act in that specified manner.

I and eight members of my family gave assorted chunks of our lives to defending the country and Constitution the flag represents. That includes defending the First Amendment. I defended it so others could exercise that 'free speech' right. That included defending it even if I didn't agree with what they legally chose to say or do.
I did not contradict myself at all.

It comes down to whether standing for the flag is a decision or a requirement.
I'm not aware of any requirements, at least not in this country. There are customs and rules, but even the codified versions of those use the word 'should', not 'must'. I've never heard of anyone being convicted for failing to observe them, and there are plenty of precedence-setting cases where those accused of ignoring or breaking them have been ruled as exercising their right to freedom of speech.

Then we agree

Thanks, @TexasRaceLady for letting the flag discussion continue even though it was borderline Podium. I think it is relevant to the NASCAR Chat section because of the crew chief handout posted by @dpkimmel2001
No need to thank me, y'all deserve the thanks for keeping it respectful and out of harm's way.
Had it gone into the political, it would have been moved.

Kind of interesting, out of all the 2005 Chase drivers , three are no longer racing, Mark Martin ,Jeremy Mayfield and Rusty, so going forward 10 years, I wonder how many drivers from the 2016 Chase will still be driving in 2016

More than three, just based on statistical analysis. That 2005 Chase had only 10 drivers; the 2016 will have 16. More drivers means more will still be around.

Right, six more drivers, none the less, just thought it was interesting , your mileage may very.

Maybe start a new discussion after the field is set, asking which ones will still be around in five or ten years.
Maybe we should, it could be very interesting to see what everyone thinks.

While I'm not allowed to take them out, they're certainly free to leave as they wish. I can't use more than five or six anyway; I just keep bumping into or tripping over the rest of them. :D:D:D
:lol2::lol2::lol2:, five or six:beerbang:

Bats both ways.
I am sure you trying to say something, but that is not making any sense to me.

What kind of bats?, the ones used to hit baseballs with, or the animal kind?
