Not liking the chances of getting qualifying in as scheduled...but, if so...

Qualifying draw

Thanks FL for posting all the good stuff! Much appreciated.:punkrocke

Looks like the guys are making up for the rather quiet week.

Doesn't look right to see Dixon turning laps at Indianapolis in something other than the Target car.

just great..give em bigger wings, more down force, and an even wider tires so they can really hit the unprotected wall.

Well, that sucks, but he's lucky it wasn't worse. That was spooky reminiscent of Gordon Smiley's accident. The car and the SAFER did a great job protecting him.

Coyne didn't need another wadded up car either.

I am excited, all my favorites except for G. Rahal are up there in the top 10.
Andretti is knocking it out of the park so far. That must be a sigh of relief for Alonso
that he did the right thing. Seems he has got this down and will let it all hang out
and go for the pole. The Sebas crash will be in the back of every ones mind though
as an example how it can all go away in the blink of an eye.

How many more does Indy have to maim and kill before they shut their doors, or fix the problem? I cannot even watch their speedway races anymore.

Unfortunately most sports have their risks of injury. Motorsports obviously have higher
risks because of the speed which us fans and participants love. The safety improvements
through out motorsports in the past couple of decades has saved hundreds and maybe thousands
of lives which should be applauded. I agree though the speedway races are dangerous and things
can go bad in a hurry. Hopefully Sebas will be back next year and can continue a competitive career
albeit he is toward the end of his natural career age wise. Would not surprise me if he did a
Dario Franchitti and retired.

Bourdais has nothing left to prove. That was an absolutely savage hit. No one could blame him for walking away, but these guys are not made like that. I'm guessing he will use this as motivation to come back and win again rather than retire. He's still too young and he has been deadly fast all year. Not the right time to quit just yet.

Right now the big question is who drives Coyne's car. We really need that car to make 33, and it's a damm fast car. The favorite seems to be Stefan Wilson, but wouldn't it be awesome to see Tony Stewart in that car? I'm guessing maybe Coyne has talked to Ryan Briscoe. The line outside Coyne's garage has got to be pretty long.

Guy crashes into a wall almost head-on at 227 MPH and lives, and we're whining? Turn back the clock just six years ago and he probably doesn't make it.

I would have snatched up Mike Conway IMHO.

I think he has WEC duties though, so I guess he would be a no.

Its been a great season for DCR as well with new sponsors and the team is getting better every week. I hope Seabass comes back next season and kicks ass.

Oh my God, what a savage hit that was yesterday. For as long as I can remember, back into the 1960's, the single most terrifying moment of the racing year has always been Indy 500 qualifying. I think I saw a report yesterday that Sebastien took 118 G's? Awfully glad that his surgery has gone well, and no reports of neurological injuries.

Very impressed by the rapid response of the rescue personnel, as always at Indy. I timed it on my DVR. From the initial wall hat, it took 16 seconds for the car to come to rest, and just 10 seconds more for the first man to reach the driver's side. Good job!

You may not know this , but Conway will not race Indy ever again after surviving a big crash
in the 2010 500. In fact , I don't think he will do any open wheel on an oval ever again .
Have not looked it up recently but that's what I remember he decided.

I think he made that decision after another heavy crash in the 2012 Indy500 when he collided with Power. I remember that race very well as it was the last IndyCar race that was broadcasted on German TV.

I really hope Bourdais can recover and he will be back next year.
If Davison isn't a full-time replacement, I could imagine Bruno Senna running some road course races as he confirmed being interested in running IndyCar races last year.

Yeah - I went and looked at wiki. It was 2012 when he decided.

I'd like to see Vautier come back as well, Pigot would definitely benefit from the extra seat time.

Would Chevy be okay with that?
I don't think Vautier's Mercedes commitments will make him an option. I'm not sure Pigot is that tied to Chevy so I think he could make it work. He just drove for RLL last year so hopefully.

What problem is that? You mean that a 230mph head on crash into the wall hurts?

There is no problem. Adults are still allowed to take responsibvility for their own safety. Sebastien rolled the dice and lost. Sucks, but it happens. At least he was a man about it and he'll be ready to come back as soon as the doctors allow it, or maybe even before. Word is he was asking the doctors if he could be ready for Sonoma. Doesn't sound like he thinks the risks are unreasonable.

He quit the Foyt team midweek end at Fontana one year and said he wasn't comfortable on ovals. I can't blame him a bit. At least he recognized the problem was him and not oval racing in general. The guy is a star in WEC and in the catbird seat to win Lemans this year, so his career is working out pretty well and he doesn't need to go back to Indycars.

That was slow. Here's an impressive response time...................

Alonso got an engine change today. This should be an interesting quali for him.
