Just had a big Petit Le Mans weekend and hoping for a second wind to drag myself
2 1/2 hours Sunday a.m. to Dega. 50-50 right now. Would really like to see Jr's last one.

If you mean that will race in Sunday's cup event then add Dale Jr. Him & Kenseth both rookies in 99'

Ahh yes thank you. Sorry Jr fans but he's already retired as far as his relevancy to me is concerned.

love this race.

GO DP!
Go stennie!
Go JR!

Mark Thompson wiki- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Thompson_(racing_driver)

Kenseth and him are the only two guys who have cup starts in the 90s, correct?

66-year-old with five career national series starts to his name running a restrictor plate race in the playoffs.

What could go wrong?

Soon to be 76-year old Morgan Shepherd filling in for him, maybe ?

I suppose Thompson can do no worse than Cope but with Xfinity off this weekend, I'd have thought that Joey Gase would've been in the #15 again for Talladega 2.

Although I see that BK Racing's driver is TBA so maybe he'll be in the #23.

In other words, I don't know what in hell is going on

Harvick's Dega car.

might be the angle but that hood, fenders etc look different to me. Strips on the A pillar top and trunk aren't there. Might not be done I guess.

FWIW Jr will get plenty of time on camera at the track and on the Nascar shows this week, he is always a threat at plate tracks, and this is his best opportunity left to win a race this year. Jr has been a ball to watch at the plate tracks over his career and I will miss that when he is gone.

Penske and Roush are going to be the teams to watch.

Keselowski is probably the best plate racer hands down atm.

Four of Thompson's five National Series starts have been plate races and he has also run 35 plate races in the ARCA Series. There are drivers that are less experienced, Gaulding has only run 2 plate races in his career.
@pjmolo Shepherd has now 992 starts in the Naional Series, I'd love to see him making his 1000th one in the Cup Series.

At least we have another full field if the 23 doesn't withdraw.
Yeley in the #7
Thompson in the #15
Kennington in the #55
Gaughan in the #75
LaJoie in the 83

No argument there but would add that SHR has some decent plate racers also.

As a Jr fan it's been a hard year. I've been waiting for this race for months now. If he could pull it off for a 7th time at Talladega on Sunday they'd tear the grandstands down.

Thank goodness ISC owns both Daytona and 'Dega....... we are guaranteed they won't be dropped from the schedule.

Oh goodie.......:owquitit: 480 miles of meaningless half-hearted competition followed by 20 miles of random luck and carnage. I watch only so I can answer questions from people smart enough to do something more exciting four Sundays a year, like grout the bathtub, or change the air in their car tires......

It doesn't appeal to everyone.

Thank goodness we don't all enjoy the same things....... life would be pretty damned boring.......
