2018 Australian Grand Prix

Fluke win might decide the championship.

I hate these kind of situations.

Grid penalties are gonna be ridiculous this year. 3 PUs for the season...these guys already have to duck out on every straight the first race of the season because of overheating.

I can support a Ferrari W any day of the week.

Am I remembering correctly that there were something like two on-track passes recorded here last year? Did we top that? All I am remembering is Ricciardo on Hulkenberg, which now looks like it's among the greatest moves of all time given that faster cars can't pass in 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th positions.

Next race will be better because this is the worst circuit for racing in the series, unless you count Monaco.

It was a...surprising outcome. There's that.

Some positivity:
-McLaren and Haas are decent
-Mercedes didn’t completely run away with it.

It’s gonna be a long year. Take what you can get.
I think Haas are legit. Renault look like a real upgrade over Honda for McLaren.

I think Mercedes - Hamilton, at least - are gonna whip Ferrari though.

If Bottas keeps this performance up though, he's going to be a goner from Merc.

If I was Riccardo, I would on attack mode. Even though I think Ocon would be the best bet, being the Mercedes junior driver.

Makes me miss Rosberg and just goes to show just how good Rosberg really was.

I knew ESPN wasn't putting much effort into this. They are putting less than I could have imagined.
If I could watch the Sky coverage in its entirety it'd be a lot better than NBC's coverage. ESPN still had fewer commercials, but the timing is abrupt and awkward and no one being at home to update us or show a replay after commercials is going to prove to be a problem at some point.

That showing from ESPN was so mind-bogglingly bad that I wonder what the hell they are going to do for the four races on the American continents that will be aired on ABC on Sunday afternoons. Are they going to have an actual crew host those races only, or still this? This was like watching someone illegally stream a PPV online.

Mercedes is still far and away the best, for sure.

Who else has expiring contracts this year?

Yeah I am just going to echo what Tony DiZinno is saying on Twitter. Sky have a lot to add to F1 broadcasting in America. But ESPN need to put in at least some kind of effort instead of just ripping their feed. Get at least a small handful of people working on this thing. ****, even FOX has and had Bob Varsha interjecting on Formula E and WEC world feeds before and after commercials just to tidy things up.

I just don't even have anything nice to say about the race, and especially not about the coverage. It's better I don't comment on F1 any more.

Been watching since '96 and I can honestly say this is the WORST F1 has looked in a long time.

Rather pay for the F1 service now instead of waiting on the ESPN "simulcast".

ESPN literally threw **** at the wall and expected it to stick, I miss NBC already.

It's good that Magnus felt the need to apologize, but they're only saying sorry for the pre-race snafus, which I didn't even see. I assume they are about to get ripped more for the shoddy style of in-race coverage.

That Verstappen spin was hilarious.

He was driving his car so damn hard that the rear stepped out about four or five times, then the tires finally had enough and lost the rear trying to jump on the power out of turn one.

This is why I'm a big fan of Riccardo, he races hard, within his limits, and is really intelligent with his decision making.
