2018 Cup Schedule

Well, that's because NASCAR fans are the worst fans in all of sports. They won't go to this race because it's too cold, or this race because it's too hot. Don't see Packers fans bitching about it being too cold when they play at Lambeau Field in January in subzero temperatures.
This goes along with that beer drinking thing you were referencing earlier.

Dear Lord, I hope that Chicagoland race is at night. I dont miss those years roasting when the race used to be in July on a Sunday afternoon.

I am all for a road course in the playoffs, wish they had went to a real one instead of a roval, I think its a gimmick that will fail but I'll give it a chance. I am intrigued about the Charlotte roval to say the least. Indy as the last race before the playoff is meh, I think that race has more problems than its place on the schedule.

I like the changes to the schedule, for the reasons I said early in the thread. Not surprised about all the b!tching... because Nascar fans.

July 1 so another Sunday race.

Some of those Sunday afternoon races in mid-July at Chicagoland were pretty rough.

So track management put in lights and the race was moved to a Saturday night date for a few years until the race got moved to a Sunday afternoon in September as the first race of the Chase.

Now that the race is being moved back to July, and considering that the place has lights, I'd sure love to know why they aren't going back to a Saturday night race.

Chicago in July and Vegas in Sept. Sounds very very hot. Even if Vegas is a night race, it could still be over 100F at the start of the race. Also, that is at the end of monsoon season so that will be fun to deal with. I like changing up the schedule but who thought this out? There has to be more to this than was released. What happened to the mid week races?

I like these changes, I'm always excited when the season starts a week earlier so that's great I'm super excited that Charlotte fall race is going to be a road course those are probably the two highlights for me

TV ratings will always be better for the same race on a Sunday afternoon than on a Saturday night, and that trend has only become more pronounced in recent years. That's the only reason, but it's a big one. We're more likely to see a mid-week night race introduced than any more Saturday night races added.

Preach, from 2001 to 2012 I went to every race. Those July day races the week after Pepsi 400 were BRUTAL.

My ideal Cup schedule

1. Daytona
2. Phoenix-Phoenix moves back to the 2nd race of the season. West Coast swing starts early to give Atlanta time to get warmer. Better weather=bigger crowd.
3. Las Vegas
4. Auto Club
5. Texas
6. Martinsville
7. Talladega
8. Atlanta-Atlanta pushed back to the 8th race of the season. The weather should be better and warmer by this time.
9. Richmond
10. Dover
11. Kansas
12. Charlotte
13. Bristol-Bristol also moved back to allow for better weather. Also, the All Star race would be moved to Bristol.
14. Pocono
15. Michigan
16. Sonoma
17. Daytona
18. Kentucky
19. New Hampshire
20. Pocono
21. Chicagoland-Mid-Summer race so this race would be moved to a night race. Less heat.
22. Iowa-Iowa gets a Cup date. Replaces the Indianapolis race.
23. Michigan
24. Watkins Glen
25. Darlington
26. Bristol-Last race to make the Chase. I think Bristol would be the perfect track.
27. Charlotte
28. Richmond
29. Dover
30. Talladega
31. Kansas
32. Las Vegas
33. Martinsville-Night race.
34. Texas
35. Phoenix
36. Homestead-Miami

Why does Atlanta keep getting screwed it's almost as if NASCAR wants them to not succeed, Feb 25th sheesh that's going to be cold there.

It's a crap shoot...This year I was actually hot sitting in the stands wearing a t-shirt and jeans. Of course next year I will probably be freezing my butt off!

Another factor contributing to the 2018 date of the Chicagoland race is the continued scheduling of a triple-header weekend.

This year the trucks run on Friday night, Xfinity on Saturday afternoon and Cup on Sunday afternoon.

The 2018 Charlotte "ROVAL" Chase Race is as big a mistake as Kyle Busch walking down to Logano's pit box at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

No actual Cup Race experience for that hybrid track, just pure experiment -- but in a Playoff Race?!? Hard to understand; and fans deserve to know what NASCAR deck jockey thought that would be a good idea.

At least it will put all the teams working off the same "WTF" Playbook as they guess their setups...

My feelings exactly, I see this as being a huge cluster F. Have any cup cars even practiced on the road course?

I would actually be okay if they tried the Charlotte Roval for the All Star Race because it combines the skill of the driver to drive an oval and road race as well as the CC to set up the car for both. But to try this in a playoff race I think will result in a SMH moment.

I am sure they will give them a bunch of extra time to practice for the Charlotte weekend. But they are the best drivers in the world so I am told I am sure they will figure it out.

A couple thoughts on the schedule change.....

The swap of dates means nothing to me. In the Chase, out of the Chase..... Whatever.

I don't like Richmond's move back to night races. Racing at that venue, or any other venue, is far better during the heat of the day. The added grip of nighttime events is a detriment to good racing.

Running on the 'roval'. I love it. I am so tired of the same ol' same ol'. Can't wait to see the change. Could have been any other track and I'd still like to see it. Matters not to me.

I love the roval god forbid we challenge these guys. I like when they don't get to see stuff I always say there is too much practice already.

Just rearranging the deck chairs is all this was, the only thing interesting might be the roval , happy that a RC race is in the Chase, but I would of much rather seen Watkins Glen had its date moved into the Chase, or swap with Sonoma and put Sonoma in the Chase.

If he's gonna be the new voice of reason in the sport, so be it.

Redneck jesus hath spoken
He tweeted back a hater yesterday he listed his wins, top 5's and the money he made. I would have just tweeted back the 95 million dollars he has made in his career along with a picture of his beautiful wife, and then called it a day.

I agree. The speed they are going to carry with the oval involved still will be cool going into Turn 1 to the infield.

Crew chiefs already having a panic attack over their CMS roval setups
