2018 NASCAR Media Day

Kevin Harvick should be named President of NASCAR. Dude has a ton of great ideas.

"Dude has a ton of great ideas"...sadly, that will disqualify him. Makes me wonder though. Why doesn't NASCAR have more former drivers involved with shaping the sport? I wonder if they (NASCAR) get any input at all from former drivers?

Kyle Petty was damn near a championship contender when his Dad's team was in freefall.

I never thought as Kyle being a "bad driver", but he was something to watch a lot of fun to watch.

People forget that Kyle Petty was a legit contender for the 1992 Winston Cup. He had a few good years there as did Michael Waltrip.

If I recall correctly, Kyle was one of five drivers mathematically eligible to win the title at the fall race at Atlanta in 1992. Kulwicki, Elliot, Allison, Gant and Petty were all in the hunt. And possibly Mark Martin? I've slept a lot since then. Kyle did pretty well in Felix Sabates equipment. Even had Gary Nelson as his CC for awhile.

Yeah, he was there. Kyle's window of being really good was basically just 1991 and 1992 but he had held his own prior to that. He fell off a cliff in the mid 90s though.

Waltrip was never a legitimate contender outside of the restrictor plate tracks honestly. He had a few good runs here and there at a Charlotte or Homestead, but his success was almost exclusive to Daytona and Talladega.

Seems like he finished second in the Pocono race the day Bobby Allison got hurt in 1988. Occasionally he could turn in a top ten. I thought his stint in the Pennzoil car would edge him into the top tier, never did.

Kyle Petty and Michael Waltrip disagree...

If you're a marketing machine you can milk this sport all you want.
Same thing I been saying lol, I don’t understand how NASCAR fans don’t see this.. **** Clint Bowyer hasn’t done anything in years and still have fans because he acts goofy and I guess is someone the fans can relate to, I’m assuming hunting and stuff like that.. u can fake it in this sport and get away with it ..

Personality? Hahahahaha those two are bland as hell.
Man U can’t win in here! They only see what they want to see.. chase Elliott personality is terrible the guy never shows any personality.. only time he showed emotion is where he said his momma told him something lol.. bringing ur momma into a sport as a grown man is a no no

Man, you gotta lot of rules about sports.

bringing ur momma into a sport as a grown man is a no no
Is that a new regulation that was just enacted and no one but you knows about or one you just made up? Inquiring minds want to know.

For all you TRUEX fans .. that thought it was all TRUEX and not car.. Ryan Newman just said him and Truex are friends but it was TRUEX car lol

Best car, hottest driver, and probably the hottest CC in the garage. Things aligned with a nice bit of luck, they'll be contenders again this year.

Link, please. That's the kind of thing friends say about each other, esp. in sports. It's one of those unwritten rules; I'm sure you understand.

Its all good, no problem. Tell Steven he still owes me a case of beer he and his buddies drank while me and Jimmy Spencer were running the 500 at Charlotte I left at the Motor Coach

I thought Rusty gave up on Steven. :idunno:

I think Nascar is missing the boat by not supporting ALL the drivers. One of my biggest complaints about race coverage. Seems we used to hear about a lot more drivers in the field than we do today.

Yeah, I don't get people complaining about short fields when...for all I know...according to the TV...there's 8 cars on track...

It was Truex and the Car. Example- Homestead where he took a car with older tires and took Busch to school at the finish and won the Championship. A thing of beauty.
How he have older tires and he didn’t even have to race anyone smh.. that’s what I be talking bout with NASCAR fans.. y’all just say whateva .. Kyle Busch had to race like 2-3 people to catch Truex.. He raced logo a hard for a long time just to catch Truex.. so please tell me how he had older tires?? He still almost beat Truex with killing his tires on Logano

Paul Menard expressing his excitement for the upcoming season. Seriously though, someone needs to coach this guy to show emotion of some kind.

He had 22 laps to pass Truex from second. He couldn't do it. School was in session.
