Not sure what Jimmie Johnson has to do with it.

I saw a guy run with the hood up for the last 7 laps in a 20-lap heat race at Oglethorpe, and finish well enough to advance to the main! Geez, I haven't thought of that night in years.

Because of his 2 little mishaps during speedweek, some may have thought he was running blindfolded out there.

You get to watch birdbox nascar style. :D;)

It was a National Guard camp to Ft. Stewart, GA, back in the late '90s or so. About 12 or 14 of us went over to Oglethorpe; most of them had never been to a race track. It was chilly but they had a jet car showing off between classes, and that sucker warmed the whole grandstand up. A great night of racing, with a 22-car LM main.
 
Atlanta Entry List Notables, Natalie Decker for DGR-Crosley, and the Kyle, for KBM in the 51, should be a crowd pleaser, hold the extinguisher guy. I know I am watching.

I'm curious to see how she does also. Not much of a record to speak of in ARCA and she was driving for the Venturini's, and Atlanta could be her first time to run some laps with the truck guys and it isn't ARCA for sure.

That's what most said about the current stars in the top 3 series at some point. She has the talent (possibly most of all women including Danica) to become a major threat in a few years.
 
IDK if Dean's points are a fluke or not because Daytona. Smallest team out of the bunch. Time will tell at Atlanta, he made some good moves in the closing laps, booted Friesen out of the way and gained a bunch of spots.
 
I mean Reed has won twice in Xfinity, don’t have any problem with him having a Trucks ride

The Georgia teenager will make his NGOTS debut June 15 in the No. 51 Tundra at Iowa Speedway in Newton, and will also compete for that team Aug. 15 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. Smith will compete for the No. 46 team June 28 at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill., and Nov. 7 at ISM Raceway in Avondale, Ariz. On the Super Late Model side, he will race the Winchester 400 Oct. 13 at Winchester (Ind.) Speedway, the All-American 400 Nov. 3 at Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, Tenn., and the Snowball Derby Dec. 2 at 5 Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Fla.

really really like decker, but Im scared this is beginning to look like danica2.
Kudos though she is spending time in lower series. I wish patrick had done that.

I still think Deegan would eat deckers lunch.
 
I'd like to like Decker, but circumstances are certainly working against her. It's hard to learn much in a damaged car, much less behind the wall.

I like her just fine, but so far she can't drive a truck. 3 laps down in 24th. Spun twice without any help, even Jenny Jo Cobb finished on the lead lap.:idunno: I don't hear David Gilliland calling her out publicly.:D

I listened to Decker on in-car radio and she's gonna have to tough up BIGLY if she wants to make it to the big leagues. Say all you want about Danica, but one thing you cant say is she was soft. That woman got put in the wall on a regular basis, cussed about it afterward, and got back at it the next weekend. She was a badass.

Agree E. She WAS. I wish she had spent some time in the lower series, but she WAS badass. no taking that away.

Unfortiotley she didn't start racing stock cars until she was thirty, so there wasn't much time for the lower series. If you really think about it, what she accomplished in a short time in a stock car is pretty amazing IMO. I still miss rooting her on Sundays and don't have a driver that care about anymore in Cup. The only thing that makes me watch NASCAR is the Pick'EM game. By the way, I picked Keselowski to win at Atlanta,:D

I'm not sure you can teach someone how to be tough. I think you either are or are not. Like you, I think Deagan would eat Decker's lunch as well, but I'm hoping they both do well and make it to Cup at some point.
 
you forgot to post that crowd pleaser Kyle Busch(i) (the only i) will be in the race. For whatever reasons we all have an interest in that.:rolleyes:
