All this excitement about the new schedule I almost forgot we still have to run the 2019 season.
I heard a brief discussion Monday evening on Nascar Radio. Someone from Nascar put it this way... If there is single-car qualifying, the teams spend time and money developing single-car speed that is relevant only to qualifying. Special qualifying parts and setups. If there is group qualifying, the race setups are also optimum for qualifying, so those development efforts specific to single-car speed are not undertaken.“One of the things we wanted to hold true to is not to go back to single-car qualifying,” Miller said. “Single-car qualifying is two things — it’s boring and it’s expensive. It also doesn’t create a good show.
Not being the brightest star in the sky, can someone explain to me the "expensive" part?

IDK if this is a big thing, small thing, or complete fake news, but that's the rationale that was offered for saying single-car qualifying is more expensive than group qualifying.

Drag it through the pit stalls at the start of qualifying. If you're still in your stall when it gets to you ...
I know in the past, teams used special light weight parts and oils. After q'ing, everything would have to be changed to race trim.I heard a brief discussion Monday evening on Nascar Radio. they put something like Kyleonite on the surface, bad jujuAnd all this is supposed to make the racing " better " ? Good racing shouldn't require manipulating the racing surface.
just saw this? Big Bill talked about Nascar racing being show business years and years ago. didn't you watch the recent Earnhardt/Gordon special when Gordon talked about he and Sr talking about the show?Just saw this. Unbelievable.

It's not show business, it's sport, and it should unfold organically. Other leagues have figured that out.just saw this? Greg Biffle back on-track and zero discussion outside of this post? RF keeps being more of a bitching board than a racing board each day...
Ol’ Greg is out of race shape, not been on the track in 3 years and hadnt won in 6 and is turning 50 this year. Not exactly a head turning story.Greg Biffle back on-track and zero discussion outside of this post? RF keeps being more of a bitching board than a racing board each day...

I’m sure natural talent will come to light but the days of “the biff” are long gone.
See the part where it says 'Posted this in the truck thread'? Biffle isn't racing this weekend.Greg Biffle back on-track and zero discussion outside of this post? RF keeps being more of a bitching board than a racing board each day...
Buying 3 hours of TV time to watch one car on the track. I agree. However, I am all in favor of the fastest 10 lap average and you have a total of 30 minutes to do it. Starting line up for this qualifying would be the finishing order of the last race in reverse.“One of the things we wanted to hold true to is not to go back to single-car qualifying,” Miller said. “Single-car qualifying is two things — it’s boring and it’s expensive. Meanwhile outside the grass, just a boring non-show.
