2020 Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 Pre-Race Thread

Trying to run five races in two or three summer days in south Florida is begging for postponements.

We prayed for lights in that race that was basically finished in the dark which wonder boy won. the track delivered

I'm withholding judgement. Martinsville, like Darlington is really at its best when it's hot and slick. Depending on this new tire combo, we may not get what we've come to expect from Mville.

They should start at 7. Percentages increase as the night goes on.

You say that like NASCAR doesnt want to make every effort to run it. Do you know the logistics and planning involved?

NASCAR, the teams and the TV networks have routinely had Cup and Xfinity races hundreds of miles apart on consecutive days. It doesn't seem like that big of an issue to race in Martinsville on Thursday and Homestead on Sunday, especially with the absolute bare bones programs they are running.

Do you know if they have cut back on the number of teams doing the TV production? Can you explain to me why NASCAR wouldnt run the race if they could considering the build up and excitement surrounding it? Can you tell me the behind the scenes discussion on what decisions will be made and why they are made? Are the decisions influenced by the TV Networks that basically are the sole supporter of the sport right now and the reason Tracks arent going bankrupt? Just because you "think" its not a big issue doesnt make it so.

So easy to make disparaging comments about the sanctioning body when you have ZERO information on the decision making process.

That requires using two crews. Like many other companies, I suspect Fox is trying to limit the number of potentially exposed employees. I also suspect income is down in the sports division and they’re tring to cut expenses by not fielding two crews.

The drone drivers imitation of the blimp is getting better :idunno:

Well, if we don't have the whole story, who's fault is that? If NASCAR is THAT willing to just give up on having the Martinsville race, then I would would have to ask just HOW important it is to them to have it at all. If Fox has actually cut back on people in a time when we are trying to run more events in a smaller window of time, then that's just foolish. It's not like they have any other sporting events to cover.

According to AccuWeather the highest chance for rain/storms (50%+) starts between 6/7 PM. All throughout the day, the chance of rain is below 15%.

We’ll see how proactive NASCAR will be.

I blame Teresa Earnhardt and the COT.

MS. Earnhardt is a prime example. Pretty much everybody hates her guts, including her step children, and much of it is for the exact reason of never being forthcoming. Kelley Earnhardt has talked at length how it was basically impossible for her own employees and business partners to get basic guidance from her when decisions had to be made. I really doubts she gives a damn, but if she does care that people don't like her, she has NOBODY to blame but herself.

Since we are doing all of these if's and maybes, then I will throw one into the pot. Maybe NASCAR is not worth the extra effort and cost for them to do it in their eyes. If it does get postponed I imagine NASCAR will explain why, but even if they don't...I'm still going to eat all of the hot dogs I bought for the Martinsville race, and I will still be tuned into Homestead when the green flag drops. :)

This part. There's a whole lot of whining and pissing about some rain and attendance when this remains one of the few sports back in bidness. Watch some baseball instead, or basketball, or hockey, or the Olympics.

Oh, wait ...

Its a fluid situation, what the hell do you want them to tell you? geezus

I would like them to lay out the reasoning of why if the race cannot be run tonight, why it couldn't be run tomorrow, and give an actual answer, not that PR speak garbage like that track allowing spectator press conference from yesterday. I read the transcript and felt like my IQ dropped ten points.
