2020 Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 Pre-Race Thread

There's likely an Oprah / Dr. Phil special on tomorrow evening. Priorities.

Salvage what you can of your IQ. 10 points is a lot at any level.

Looking at the radar, the clouds are moving almost exactly NE and the biggest rain band looks like it might stay to the west and north.

Then again, here’s the radar projection for race time, just from experience I’d bet a 12 pack that there’s racing tonight with maybe a delay or two (I know, wishful thinking impurities and all that):

I would have no problem them moving it up to 5pm EDT. Better chance of getting in the required 250.

I would like them to lay out the reasoning of why if the race cannot be run tonight, why it couldn't be run tomorrow, and give an actual answer, not that PR speak garbage like that track allowing spectator press conference from yesterday. I read the transcript and felt like my IQ dropped ten points.
They have a double header on Saturday in Homestead freakin FL. Thats not across the state line buddy and IF they could do it, why wouldnt they??? Like I said, you dont know who, what, when or why and frankly you dont need to. When its time, they will tell YOU like everyone else when the race will be on.

Sorry everyone I am skimming while at work, did they cancel the race or are people upset ( much like myself last week about start times. Not going down that road again) about starting the race before weather hits? And how does the evil step mother Teresa Earnhardt fit in all this? This thread has turned wild.

I havent read through but it seems like they wouldnt be able to run it because they would need two TV crews as its cutting it close to Homestead and I am sure maybe Fox wants to 1.) limit employee exposure 2.) trying to limit costs right now . Thats my best guess, I dont think NASCAR or even the networks are to blame in this circumstance, its just really hard to navigate a weather issue this close to another race in another state. and who knows we might just be able to steer clear of the issue which would make all of this for naught anyways. I am just thankful we have a racing during this pandemic/racial unrest and even if it's rained out tonight, at least everyone involved tried and did what's best for business in the end.

All I'm saying is, if you don't tell people why you do things, then don't be surprised if they misinterpret it. Frankly, I really don't give a damn whether they get the race in or not. It is what it is. If it runs, I'll watch it. If not, I'll spend the time doing something productive. It just seems to me that it would be in NASCAR and Fox's best interest to try to stick to the schedule THEY set, if at all possible. This is just another reason why this mid week race idea isn't all its cracked up to be. It pretty much eliminates any margin if you have a weather issue or some other problem. It doesn't matter so much right now, once there are paying fans in the stands, it's going to be a LOT more important.

One race at a time. Fit it in as best you can.

The goddammit world is on fire. There is no way to know if anybody's schedule for July is any good. For anything.

No the race has not been canceled. It is just the normal discussion that takes place every time there is a chance of a rainout... only this time we are also discussing about them not running it the next day.

But, they might as well stay in Martinsville. It's Florida, it's summer, it's going to rain. 80% chance for Sunday.

she is the rain witch? :idunno:

I'm not usually a that guy, but there's no chance we get this in tonight. Radar is awful.
Yeah no way. Night time Martinsville is the best thing they have done in some time. Now, it's looking like it's gonna be scrapped? Or will they reschedule?

Good news , cars are being uncovered !

If they can't do it tonight, they MUST run this race at some point. A weeknight race at Martinsville is just too sweet to cancel.

Also, Martinsville hot dogs live up to the hype. They have the most delicious hot dogs of all time.

I think Andy's head would legit explode if this one got canceled.

are the hot dogs still being made at Martinsville for this race? I would like to try one when I go to a race there but don’t trust my stomach ha ha
