2025 NASCAR TV contract

The future is streaming and there are A LOT of people who have Prime but don’t have cable. NBC would be wise to utilize Peacock in their next contract. I would love ESPN to get back into the game because ESPN+ is so far ahead of other sports streaming platforms.

I really only have cable for NASCAR. If they moved to a streaming platform, I would ditch cable.
Yeah I don't have cable, but my mother still does so I just use her login to stream Fox and NBC

I'm not sure what's up with streaming Fox Sports over Hulu. I use my Spectrum creds to log in. After three hours, the stream stops and tells me I've exceeded my limit. If I stop at the stage breaks, I can usually get through the last stage without interruption (barring GWCs). I don't have that problem with Peacock - log on, pick the race, go. No difference in performance regardless of series - NASCAR, IMSA, or Indy.

We anticipate moving next year and we'll go back to Dish. The service and hardware is head and shoulders above Spectrum.

Prime overperformed in their full NFL debut season last year. Expectations weren’t very high but they wound up having great demographic ratings, which NASCAR is probably intrigued by.

Another reason NASCAR should ditch Fox, their streaming presence is, by a country mile, the worst in mass media. And has been for a while now.

When the Fox/TNT/ESPN contract was signed, ALL of TNT and ESPN's races were online and on cable. Every Xfinity race on ESPN and ESPN2, every Cup race on ESPN and ESPN2 and TNT. Races on Fox and SPEED were not. They've been behind the times for a long time and propped up by having these sports rights and Fox News. The latter is facing a catastrophe.

Keeping the Daytona 500 exclusive to Fox is such a bad deal for the sport.

Fox and NBC should at least alternate it. Fox literally doesn’t give a damn about that race and it shows.

FOX needs to go, period. They treat NASCAR as a gimmick side show. I wouldn’t mind seeing CBS make a bid. Paramount+ is a good platform and you can livestream CBS directly from the platform.

I actually think that moving the Xfinity Series to streaming is a good idea. So many young people don’t have cable and this at least makes some facet of NASCAR easily accessible to them.

ESPN is in a weird spot because their national sports coverage isn’t the best but their streaming is far ahead of everyone else in the sports game. I think ESPN could leverage ESPN+ to show ARCA, ARCA East, and ARCA West races, which would increase exposure to those series. I would even try to work out a deal with CARS to get them on there as well. ESPN+ is a great repository for niche sports so it’s a perfect fit.

ESPN and NBC would still be the best outcome but that seems unlikely.

On top of all the other issues, Fox doesn’t have a viable streaming platform either.

In an ideal world, NASCAR would sign a similar deal with Peacock that WWE did. Having NASCAR’s back catalog would be amazing. I would love to watch old races without relying on low quality YouTube channels.

Fox doesn’t care and it shows. The hype & lead up for the Enjoy Illinois 300 tells it all.

Fox supposedly says they have a streaming platform ready to go, but has no time table when that would be. The issue with some of these services is you pay to get the service, but they stick you with another fee for access to certain events/sports/packages.

Game Creek Video, SVG &NEP are the best of the best, offering the networks the production tools they need. Unfortunately, the Networks don't utilize the tools at their disposal to the fullest. We need more Artie Kempners in the trucks...

I do not think this will go over too well!

Once again proving that NASCAR is all about the money and not about growing the sport. Streaming is a valuable tool, but it caters solely to people who are ALREADY strongly committed to the sport. It does NOTHING to bring in new people or keep the casual fan.

The part, to me, that sucks is that Fox gets all the hype races. LA, Daytona, North Wilkesboro, the Throwback Race, the 600. They got all the experimental weeknight races during the pandemic.

Which is frustrating when they cover the sport like a cartoon, vs. NBC which makes special events feel larger than life.

NBC has been deprived of the Firecracker 400 and the Brickyard 400. The only major events they have anymore are the Southern 500, which should have remained the throwback race, and the championship at Phoenix (which has been a horrible bore since leaving Homestead).

By the time NBC takes over in June, all the momentum is dead. And by the way, NBC pays more for less.

If Fox was as good as they were in the 2000s, it’d be one thing. But they’re not.

Hopefully they make wholesale changes soon.

Streaming only is a bad idea. Parallel to broadcast will give you the most eyes. And in the end it's all about how many eyes you catch, right?

Personally, I think EVERY race needs to be available via streaming without a cable subscription. Every race NBC/USA airs should be available on Peacock.

But most Cup races and a handful of Xfinity races should be on NBC/Fox/ESPN/USA/whatever.

With Fox in the picture, the “best of both worlds” scenario doesn’t exist. Fox is 20 years behind the times.

I do think the streaming **** is getting out of hand. Too many services. But the hate for Peacock is unwarranted. It’s by far the best deal in streaming. $4.99/mo. for an ad-supported plan (and I’ve NEVER seen an ad on Peacock outside of NBC Sports programming) is a remarkable deal. Peacock is the only one I don’t bitch about.

I wholeheartedly agree that Fox is mediocre. I don’t think one person is to blame but Fox just lacks energy besides Clint and even then he’s goofy.

Fox and stand alone streaming I don’t know their options. I do have cable and with that I stream Xfinity races at work on Saturdays. Without that option I’d hardly ever see that series.

Fox should just team up with Amazon, Fox and FS1 on liberal, Prime on streaming. And have a package of races carved out for Prime.

Across the board, Fox Networks needs to go back to what they were in 2001. Fox was edgy and made NASCAR cool. Now, it’s just lame and boring.

The solution at PxP is easy. When Mike Joy retires, put Adam Alexander in the booth.

Fox has too many other problems though.

Seriously Charlie? I wouldn't put up with that B****. Good thing is there are so many options out there and they don't lock you in to a contract and if you find one that does just move along.

I just wonder how many eyes will be on streaming and if it will affect sponsor dollars. I'm sure people much smarter then me have already addressed it but I think Xfinity tops a million viewers several times during the year, I just dont think the streaming numbers can match FTA and Cable at this time but I believe eventually it will all be a streaming platform.

Clint seems off this year. I think NASCAR fans are unrealistic though, we’re a sport that draws similarly to hockey and everyone wants some huge production

It's only with Fox Sports; Peacock doesn't have any issues. The only place I have Roku is on the set in the garage, because it's cheaper than another cable box. The only thing I watch with it is Fox and Peacock for racing. As noted, Fox doesn't have a dedicated streaming service for its content.

What I didn't state clearly in the first post is that if I exit Fox to the home page and then go back in, whatever's doing the timing resets and I'm good for another three hours. If I remember to do that at the stage breaks, it's a very minor annoyance. I can always go in the house and watch on cable.

Amazon getting a stretch of summer Cup races seems like a good opportunity to draw some interest from demographics NASCAR needs to start appealing to in greater numbers. A full exclusive Xfinity season on Amazon seems like a huge risk Xfinity teams get very little in the way of TV revenue split so when viewership drops it could be really difficult with regard to sponsorship.

Xfinity sponsorship values are going to absolutely tank. Serious chance they get viewership in the 10-20% range of what they're getting now should they move exclusively to streaming.

I have a marketing degree and still scratching my head over all this. 900k viewers a week on cable watching ads should/would/could create a lot more revenue than 100k viewers paying $10/month for the service and watching ads. I understand what's happening... all these streaming services are willing to be lose money in order to gain market share (especially in the sports world), but 5+ years into streaming no one seems to want to give in.

I barely watch linear TV except for sports and literally all people my age that I know are the same. It would be great if all the races were on streaming in addition to TV but I don't think streaming only is the way to go.

If the Amazon deal became available in my country (it won't) it would actually be a reason not to cancel my prime subscription.

So the 6-8 race summer package is between Amazon and WBD. Return of the TNT Summer Series?

Just what NASCAR DOESN'T need in my opinion is another broadcast partner cutting up the season like slices of pizza. It makes little difference to hardcore fans, but making casual fans have to search yet another place for content is lose lose deal in my opinion. I guess as long as the check cashes, screw the actual details.

if NASCAR gets that sweet Warner Brothers money via being on TNT I dont see a problem with a summer series, I'm sure it will be promoted heavily by various social media outlets as well as NASCAR itself. The problem I see is if a race ends up on something like Tru TV or some other obscure channel under the WB banner, then you'll have some folks scratching their head. Amazon I am indifferent on, I will say their Thursday Night NFL package on some weeks has left alot to be desired some weeks with either game selection or production issues.

But this will make a difference to the casual fan cause the summer races will be on a streaming service that you have to pay extra for, not on broadcast or cable.

One might think that the depths of summer would not be the time to charge for access. With only baseball and golf for competition, maximizing the casual audience would seem to be the best recruiting tool.

But I'm not a TV exec or media consultant.
