Gorgeous sunset finish for the MPC race. Now its
time to rest up for the 24. Back in the day I could
usually make it till 3:00 a.m., get a 3 hour nap, then
we'd head to the stands for the sunrise. Have a good
grid walk for those down there.

Lots to look forward to in sports car racing this year…record grid at the Bathurst 12H next month, record ELMS grid, IMSA adding a 6-hour race at Road America, and of course Le Mans, but I’m not sure any are as fun or as anticipated as this one. LFG

It’s a warm one by typical Rolex standards. Weekend temperature should peak around the checkered flag, so the final few hours you’ll probably want a new set each stop. Double and triple stint as much as you can from sunset tonight through sunrise tomorrow to have enough tires left for the finish. New compounds across every class but LMP2, so that’ll be an interesting development.

I’ve clipped that pit exit tire barrier in video games enough to know how easily it can creep up on you. Never seen it hit like that though.

This is and always has been one of my favorite races on the racing calendar. If you ever have the chance to experience it by going, DO IT!

Yeah I am almost ready to go ahead and just start
these 12 and 24 hr races single file. What little video
of the grid walk I saw in the intro, that grid walk was really
packed. Look at those stands ! Packed at T1 sections as well.
It use to be just a couple 100 when we would sit up there
way before the remodel. 10 pm Fireworks, must see.
