The RTA and Nascar have an agreement that modifications during the season Can be denied if they are out of budget, or are too complicated to bring into production. In those cases the changes, if approved, can be performed between the seasons. That's more than fair.

Goodyear made a number of tire construction and compound changes in 2024. Most of them paid off.

At this point in the evolution of the Nextgen car, that’s where the most potential gains are to be found.
 
Bring these back, or a similar modified modern version of today’s pretend stock cars. They never took off in flight to my recollection:

  • Teams could choose their own ride heights
  • Damper lengths would not be enforced
  • Customizable nose weight
  • Choice of short track/road course or intermediate/superspeedway diffuser
  • Any spoiler and spoiler base from current inventory available for use
  • Minimum weight will be enforced
So why does Forde believe that this could cost teams nothing?

β€œAnd part two about this, and why I say teams actually probably could have saved money on this idea is if you didn’t want to do anything, if you wanted to not come up with any idea, you can just build your cars, what you could have done is used body panels that probably aren’t race-ready for a Talladega or a Coke 600, but probably too good for a show car, and use it for the All-Star Race,” Forde said. β€œSo, you could have used sort of like hand-me-downs, which they do now, but if it’s hand-me-downs that are not up-to-snuff for a points race, you could have used it there, and actually saved some money.”

As you listened to the first episode of Hauler Talk, Steve O'Donnell, who is now the President is very conscious of costing teams more money. And that thought trickles down throughout the organization. So, we're not going to make rules that will cost the teams a ton of money, that's just not what we do."

Good to see Nascar having a voice with Hauler Talk. Doubt it will be popular to the all drama all the time crowd, but I have no problem believing what they said. It makes sense. Hamlin, in his infinite wisdom saying the car would cost two million to build a tricked out car for a one million payout is the reason for the car they race today. I guess Hamlin didn't get the run what you brung rules memo, or click bait over reality.

Cool. I'll go ahead and order my Fontana tickets then. Why isn't Forde going after Tommy Baldwin who said the same thing? I don't know much about legal stuff nor do I care to learn, but I am suspecting that this kind of posturing is common.....and kind of stupid....but you will bite on anything anti-Denny.....and ya did.
