Adjustable splitters/spoilers....Why not?

Yeah, that, and it was waaaaaaaaaaaay to reminiscent of the Asian influence brought about by my TRD powered Toyota Camrys.......or so I was told by a guy much bigger than me in Fontana. Alcohol may have been a factor.

When the cars turned around the wing provided so much lift it sent cars into the fence. I think NASCAR got lucky that bright idea didn't kill anyone.

Yep. The "Fast and the Furious" era made aluminum wings, tacky body kits, coffee can exhausts, and neon lights popular. People would take their perfectly fine little economy cars and make them look ridiculous. Thankfully, all that stuff went away years ago.

Eventually most of those people realized the error of their ways and developed good taste. The rest of them got older and bought diesel trucks with LED light bars, cheap lift kits, large "Rock Star" wheels with tiny tires, smoke stack exhausts, and anything else that converts their perfectly functional pickup truck into a gaudy pavement princess.

Michael Waltrip suggested they allow the wing to flip when the car went backward to remove any lifting force.

However, if it a slow adjustment as I suggested, he wouldn't have time to dial it down coming out of turn 4 and he couldn't get it back up for the corner. The adjustment would be for handling, same as the track bar, NOT for passing.

That's what seems so bizarre about all of this. Why did they give them the in ****pit track bar adjuster? So you could make the car better faster/more efficiently. Why not the same thinking with the spoiler/splitter?
 
Why not surprise the driver and have the engineer make the changes from the pit?

The trackbar was already adjustable; they just added a control for the driver.
 
Wing or no wing, cars tend to take flight when turned any way other than nose first.

I was just looking at some YouTube videos of NASCAR flips and came across this Ricky Rudd clip. Man, that was nasty.

My point was that the trackbar was already adjustable. The spoiler isn't already adjustable, inside or out. You can't put a ****pit control in for something that isn't adjustable in the first place.

"So make it adjustable!" Now we're back to cheezy's reply that NASCAR wants parity.

Spoilers were adjusted mid-race and could be again. The bars that are on them now did not always exist and crew members could beat/bend the spoiler as desired during a stop.

To the original post:
NASCAR has held the belief for quite some time now that the machines should be as close to identical as possible.
This would leave the "show" in the hands of the drivers. It hasn't worked yet and it's time for the experiment to end.
Adjustability needs to return. Spoilers, shocks, springs, gears and motor.(get rid of the splitter)
The Monster Energy CRATE Cup Series needs some room for the crew chiefs to work some of their magic!

While not cool as they were during the height of the tuning car craze here, they are still being used, wings were a part of the overall all show and no go fad that you are talking about, tuning companys are still putting wings on cars, wings are still very popular , maybe not so much here.

The Japan car culture would like to disagree with you, all that stuff is still very much alive and well, right now the craze is over fenders on slambered cars , with those coffee cans exhaust. The tuning car world is very much alive and well and thriving, but because we have such a sort attention span here, its not trendy thing to do anymore here.
Liberty Walk and Rocket Bunny are two of the most popular car mods.
This took the car world by storm in 2013 and was by the most popular thing from 2013 to about 2015, and that brought back the over fender craze to life.

I've been saying for awhile now that the diesel truck scene are the new ricers. Spot on.
 
That one’s missin’ the cool/awesome multi-colored, primered body panels.

A few of those are found at the local cruise ins. Kinda fun watchin’ ‘em try to avoid the speed bumps on the way to the display area.
