Ambrose Vs Mears

Looked to me like Mears was more pissed and grabbed and shoved Marcos before the punch. Marcos got moved by a few drivers, but I don't think Mears was one of them.

From what little footage there was of the scuffle, it appeared that Mears was the aggressor and he found out exactly how far he could push Ambrose.
The cheap shot was from the guy that hit Ambrose in the side of the head from outta nowhere.

They should fine the cheap shot specialist and split the money between Marcos and Mears.

Mears really wants no part of Ambrose. The guys a workout freak and strong as a bull. Lol

It seriously looked, to me, like Marcos was trying not to escalate the situation. Mears just wouldn't let up.
I'll bet they've already spoken and realize that it was a heat of the moment deal and that it really shouldn't have happened.

The uneducated drunk rednecks who run NASCRAP have already made a comment condoning barbaric behavior. If a player in the NBA...MLB...NFL... punches another player they are suspended immediately...Pushing and shoving is one thing...but when you punch a person in/near the eye you could end that persons career...Both drivers need suspensions...Ambrose needs the more severe penalty of the two...Unfortunately the NASCRAP BRASS wont react till they monitor the media coverage and fan sentiment, just like previous situations that questioned their sports/governing bodys respectability...Flame Away...LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Ohh, NASCRAP, that's so clever dude...it's like a play on words right? Because you think Nascar is crap? Cool I get it, I totally see what you did there! You sound so intelligent

It's no different than fighting in hockey. It happens sometimes, and it's no big deal.

It looks like Mears starts shoving Ambrose away, then grabs him and spins him around. That's assault in any courtroom, and Marcos has every reason to believe he needs to defend himself. I don't see how nascar can punish Marcos much. IF...IF nascar want's to prevent it in the future, they need to punish the guy who started it.

I don't thing that NASCAR will/should do anything about this. Personally, I like the emotion in the sport. You can't promote Boys Have At It without letting them have at it. I'd rather have these guys square off face to face than take the Keselowski route after the checker flag has flown.

Everyone sees it differently, why Ambrose waited so long to deliver that stinger I have no clue. Mears, did grab him and looked to be moving away from the center of the brouhaha and let go and was backing off, Ambrose stung him with the cheap shot of which Mears was unawares of being delivered. I would never put my hands on anyone without intent on further offensive thrust, then just stand back to be rocked by the cheap shot. It did sort of set the whole night of racing off and I'm sure ole Bill is looking to reap the rewards from future gate receipts.

The fog robbed of us seeing a thiller from Manila type moment. I can visualize a mouthpiece flying thru the air (yes I know Mears wasnt wearing a mouthpiece, but this is the internets, anything is possible).

Blame Goodyear, that was smoke from all the burning cars :D

My one thought was that clip would be played a 100 times more if Ambrose and Mears were racing for the win and one spun the other, leading to the punch.

Interesting.

@PPistone

So looking at stats from stories we wrote this weekend Ambrose vs. Mears got about 4 times the page views as Logano winning race

Lol I don't think boys have it refers to off track fighting...
Boys have at it was completely contradicted after NASCAR outlawed spinning another driver out on purpose to gain position after the Richmond debacle

That's BULL, Ambrose was walking away when mear grabbed and turned him. What about the richard head who sucker punched Ambrose?

I never thought they'd fine them. Oh well, it was entertaining and got NASCAR more press than they would have had otherwise. Maybe NASCAR should turn around and in turn pay both Ambrose and Mears for the increased exposure and just call it even?

They had to give them some small fines, or some drivers would be punching select drivers for every little thing. $25K keeps it to more important issues. I would like to see a no-rings rule though.

Ring, Hmmm. How bout a boxing ring? Erect a boxing ring somewhere in the infield for after the race altercations. Televise it during the post race on FX1 as a lead in to the UFC events. It'd be a great segway and may bring a crossover audience that would improve the ratings for both sports. :D

They probably did. They probably fined them for the press... and then sent them a $50,000 bonus check with a thank you note.:D

They probably created some kind of fictitious contingency award and they'll be presented with a check for the 'Knuckle Sandwich' short track move of the race moment.
