Ambrose Vs Mears

Ring, Hmmm. How bout a boxing ring? Erect a boxing ring somewhere in the infield for after the race altercations. Televise it during the post race on FX1 as a lead in to the UFC events. It'd be a great segway and may bring a crossover audience that would improve the ratings for both sports. :D

I'm sure Tony would be the first to buy some boxing gloves. :sarcasm:

If you wear a ring and punch someone in the face for ANY reason, make it an automatic 1 race suspension. Too easy to ruin someone vision with metal on your knuckles.

I think its BS. Mears instigated the situation yet Ambrose gets the larger fine. Oh well, nobody ever suggested there was rhyme or reason with anything NASCAR.

And what's more BS is like FlFan said they will be using to promote more races in the future but it is "detrimental to auto racing"

Lets these guys(and gal) show true emotion. Fine them when they do then use the video to promote future races. Nascar logic.

Keep your eyes peeled for promotional commercials for Talladega, it'll be interesting to see if they use the Ambrose/Mears footage.

Are you taking up for an Aussie over a fellow-Californian?

The Ambrose "Cheap Shot" cost him an extra 10K, I hope it was worth it to him.

I think that this is BS (for both parties) however it is what it is.

In the overall scheme of things, $25K is a small price to pay for the exposure and newly gained 'reputation'. Cheap marketing and brand awareness?

Lets hope that they are both man enough to let it go and move on, don't need torn up racecars in the future because of pigheadedness.

Just curious, what would your reaction be if someone were to grab you and shove you around?

I sure as hell wouldn't wait until he stopped shoving me and backing off to lay a hay maker. It was a cheap shot, it's on at the point of contact not after released and the dude is falling back. That's plain old chickenshyte but it was a money shot!

How is it a cheap shot? They were face to face, not like he waited until Mears turns around. Do you expect him to do a countdown so Casey is prepared?

FWIW, "haymakers" usually bounce off of the top of your head. My perspective is, if you make a decision to put your hands on me then there are no rules and it's my choice on how or whether I retaliate. Where I'm from, there aren't any rules or "shot clocks" in a fight. You better decide how hungry you are before you bite into something.

I refrained from replying the first time you used 'cheap shot', and now I am showing extra restraint as there is that saying about arguing with a retard on the internet.

"it's on at the point of contact", yeah right... that's a great way to read a situation, a smack to the head because you touched me. FFS

Shouldn't Nascar be paying them?
Some how I get the feeling Brian will be sending both of them a secret thank you card .................Bigger check enclosed.

A "cheap Shot" and "Sucker Punch" are two different things. Show me where I have stated Ambrose was wrong??, I never said that, it was just a "Cheap Shot".

Marcos was wearing a ring and cut Mears just above the eye. An inch lower and it could have done real damage. Basically why brass knuckles are illegal in most states.
I had to go out and look for any pictures of him ever wearing a ring on either hand and can't find one. You sure can't see it on the video. I found several pics of him being able to see either hand and the guy doesn't even were a wedding ring. Let alone a ring on his right hand.

If you touch me it's on, not 7 seconds later cause I ain't waiting that long to see if you mean business or not.

I'm at a loss to believe t

If you touch me, I decide when it's on and I determine your punishment. You made your move. The next move is mine.

Exactly, I ain't waiting for you to shyte or get off the pot, you're going down.

Well, my advice to you is don't pull a Mears on me and try to steer me around. If you want a shot at walking off, you better give me your best from the jump. Mears acted like a girl and got treated like one.

He got what he got, Ambrose got the better of the deal, Cheap shots will do that for you. You'd never have that chance with me, I spook easy.

I respect your position and I'm not trying to get in a pissfest here. I'm saying that I understand what happened between Mears and Ambrose.
To me, it appeared that Marcos attempted to quell the situation and Casey did not give him the opportunity. If you look at the clock on the video, It was only about a second or less between when Casey shoved Marcos several feet, until when Marcos socked Casey in the eye.

Right, and Casey got what he asked for and Ambrose did hold off and fired the shot a little late, no biggy but cheap in my mind still the same. I'd probably have done the same thing, just heat of the moment type stuff.

Mears should just 'hit' on guys not wearing a ring.

Oh please, Marcos delivered the best drivers punch caught on camera in Nascars history. They should slow mo Zapruder it into oblivion, even more than the original Zapruder.

I dont get people that stand in long lines for autographs, but if Marcos is available I am going to get in line.

The dude has never played the phony BS Stewart, Harvick psuedo bad butt games. He was confronted face to face immediately after getting out of the car, and tried to dismiss him and blow it off. The confronter wouldn't let it go, so Marcos taught a well deserved lesson and gave him the attention he needed.

To the best of my knowledge Marcos has not gone on a "I am badass tour" talking it up, like an over compensating Stewart wind bag would afterwards. He is the real deal, a real badass with nothing else to prove. He is the one guy I would always be sure to...

RESPECT.

I suspect this is in the notebook of all drivers that have seen the video. I doubt we'll see another driver grab Ambrose for the duration of his NASCAR career. Message sent.

Just think......... If Ambrose were a front runner we could see this stuff all the tiime, I certainly hope he gets better

I haven't called anyone out nor have I used childish name calling to get my point across. One thing I know for sure, there will always be a difference of opinion in these matters and NASCAR's opinion went against Ambrose in terms of the fine. This incident combined with the on track racing this year have been great for the sport and we'll probably see more of it.

Casey even agreed with you that it was a great shot and the real thing, it is part of the game that has been lost because of all this PC bullshyte going around these days. It showed me that Mear's and Ambrose care enough about what they're doing to defend it and I can't ask for more than that.

The uneducated drunk rednecks who run NASCRAP have already made a comment condoning barbaric behavior. If a player in the NBA...MLB...NFL... punches another player they are suspended immediately...Pushing and shoving is one thing...but when you punch a person in/near the eye you could end that persons career...Both drivers need suspensions...Ambrose needs the more severe penalty of the two...Unfortunately the NASCRAP BRASS wont react till they monitor the media coverage and fan sentiment, just like previous situations that questioned their sports/governing bodys respectability...Flame Away...LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
:D

I respect Mears for handling the aftermath well. I have always thought he was a good guy. I dont think the confrontation was typical or representative of him.

Racing is a passionate thing and emotions are strong and he just picked the wrong guy. There are probably 38 to 40 other drivers he could have safely swatted flies with, the percentages were on his side.

Brad K deserved a shiner much more for his post race BS imo.
