Bonehead of the Race - Bristol I

The 2 gets 1 bonehead for pitting and another one for getting lost on track and not knowing where he needed to line up on the restart.

Ricky S gets a dishonorable mention.

Agreed. You would think a half decent marketing department could have enticed more people to the track.
 
So who’s fault is it? Fans for not showing up? Or is it marketing department? I’d say both get my bonehead of the week with a shoutout to the 2 and 22 crews for bringing their drivers in
 
The two Penske cars are an obvious choice.

Honorable mention to NASCAR race control. Brad K summed it up best, too many stupid rules. Nobody knows what the hell is going on. That last restart should never have occurred like it did. Also, can we we please do away with the frivolous uncontrolled tire and other pit road penalties?
 
Denny Hamlin for not being able to understand for the umpteen time that there is a speed limit on pit road.
 
2 and 22 crew chiefs for pitting and subjecting us to that ending.

Whoever was responsible for the 2 rows of 3 wide on the final restart gets my vote. Honorable mention to everyone that pitted with 20 laps to go with zero diamond... I mean tire wear.
 
Honorable mention to Ryan Preece for thinking he needed to stay on the lead lap 25 laps into the race.
If you get caught that fast, you probably don’t need to worry about it.
 
Penske or Harvick, ruining your race before it even starts is pretty bad.
 
This is a tough one. I have to go with NASCAR for not calling off the final restart. It's not nascars fault that a driver or team can't figure out where there supposed to line up, but I believe it is nascars responsibility to make sure all drivers get a fair and equal restart.
With that being said I would have thrown the remote or yelled at the tv for running so many laps under caution. So I understand nascars tough position.

No reason they couldn't have brought the whole field to a stop on the track and put the cars in the right position. My concern is not for Kes, but how many cars behind him got held up in that botched restart.
 
Exactly, I like the idea of not counting caution laps. I believe it is the second time this year. Even the drivers not contending for the win are still racing for the best possible finish.
 
My nomination goes to Ryan Preece for hitting everything but the pace car in the first 50 laps...hits KyBu on the first caution, hits a backmarker, blows a tire and takes Chase with him. In 50 laps. At Bristol. That's like 30 laps at a 1.5'er. Fought back to finish P25.
