Bonehead of the Week: Bristol

I'll explain the difference between Daytona and Bristol for you.
At Daytona with 3 to go, the entire field is separated by half a second and the guy in 20th has a shot at the win.
At Bristol with 3 to go the entire field is separated by 15 seconds and the guy in 20th is two laps down.
NASCAR made the right call. The race would've finished under yellow for rain anyway.
(Or...the 99 may have been struck by a meteor, who knows...)

So I guess tires cut down on RP tracks only right? I mean, there is absolutely zero percent chance the leader can cut a tire in the last 2 laps of a short track, or something break on his car sending him into ghe wall right? I guess the cars become invincible at the 5 to go mark!

Just out of curiosity, do any of your other wack theories include the 4 being repaired and Harvick charging for the win from 53 laps down?

You are clueless about racing if you think nothing can happen with 2 to go. It's unbelievable that you are trying to argue that.

You're absolutely right. Something did happen with 2 to go; the caution lights came on.
The race is over, man. Take a rest.

You are absolutely right. But that still doesn't change the fact that Carl wasn't guaranteed the win if it had stayed green. But, the race is indeed over. Carry on.

I think the inadvertent yellow was the bonehead move of the week.
I don't think it had anything to do with favoritism, or that it made a difference. It just looked bad, and gave the conspiracy conspiracy organizations needless ammunition.

I wonder if NASCAR ever said anything to Kevin or RCR after the race. Driving a flaming vehicle behind the wall and into a crowded area is downright ignorant.

It didn't start flaming till after he got behind the wall.

Idk I swore i heard someone say something about fire before he got behind the wall. It just shot up good after.

I wonder if the engine was still running for Harvick, with an old carb keeping the revs sucks out the flame. I am thinking the efi throttle bodys would behave the same way.

With oil everywhere, I'm guessing a bunch of stuff went through the pan (sort of like the pic Mag posted last week :D)

Good point, "the revs sucking out the flames" just sounded chezzie enough for a post:).

Read somewhere else he had a cut oil line.

I just looked at the video. You're right, it didn't flame up until he was behind the wall. He kept on driving though. Crazy.
After he turned the corner he may have been looking for a safe place to stop so that he wasn't next to something flammable, or any people. It looked like he stayed pretty calm through the whole ordeal... if it would have been someone that freaked out then it could have been a lot worse.

No doubt. He was pissed; I think that's what kept him calm. Definitely could've been worse.

Since someone mentioned the 1990 Daytona 500...

I loved Cope's Purolator Lumina. So many cool looking cars back then
