BREAKING NEWS: DALE JR OUT AT CHARLOTTE

After the last time Jr was injured (the fire at Watkins Glen), he was mediocre at best for a couple years, and finally turned it around this year. Wonder if this will have the same affect that incident did. (note, this is just speculation on my part about his lackluster performance after the Glen incident)

The glen, most dangerous race track we race at.

A NASCAR Sushi bar? Cool.

I was sitting by the fire in my smoking jacket enjoying a 20 year old Sherry when I heard the news.
LOL

They have Sportcenter on the bar TV.

He said at the beginning of the conference that it all started with the hit he took at the tire test some 5 weeks ago. He was feeling fine at the start of the race on Sunday, but the hit did something to aggravate it. He went to Dr. Petty and talked it over with him, and Dr. Petty recommended sitting out 2 weeks.

I believe he is truely hurt. I'm just having some fun with the whole thing because we know he'll be OK.....and he was already out of contention for the cup.

I will be interesting to see what IMPACT AJ and Reagan may have on the championship. It would be easy for Smith to overdrive the fastest car he's ever been in, and AJ to suffer a little track rust in that 51. What if one of those guys cause a wreck that takes Jimmie out?

Something to watch. Also Kurt in the 78 trying to get back in Jimmies head could be entertaining. ;)

That was Searspoint (Infineon).
Not that it really matters, I get your point.

The 78 takes out the 48 & 11 on lap 2, the 51 takes out the 2 & 15 on lap 10, the 88 takes out the 5 & 78 on lap 20 and all is good in the racing world as a new chase begins. :D

The two is going to blow up during warmups because of an aircleaner with the plastic on it. I heard they hired that guy from JGR.

lol And the loose hyme joint will fly through the 48's radiator and jam the throttle, causing JJ to wreck the 78. Kurt then wrecks all the HMS cars in the rest of the chase races.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.....happy endings!

but then brad would have nobody to play with:(

Just saw this on the TV at the Sushi place. Pretty shocking.

I hope she gave a discount, Sushi just ain't what she used to be, back in the day she didn't need TV to entertain while performing.

I hope Jr has a speedy recovery. I always like to see him do good in a race, but I will still be watching even if he is not in the race. This is why you need a backup favorite driver.

I feel bad for his fans. Especially the ones who bought tickets and planned vacations around watching him race. Some will say "We'll they're not real race fans if all they care about it watching Jr race." I disagree. Having a favorite driver is what usually converts a casual fan to a die-hard fan. It sucks that their guy won't be there.

On a side note, it would be interesting to know how many fans will watch the race from the grandstands completely oblivious to Jr's absence. haha

There is no way for anyone within 100 miles of that place to be ignorant of his absence, all of the radio & tv stations, also the speakers blaring it every 15 seconds.

If the stands are next to empty next week will it will prove Nascar has to make sure the top names are locked in the field?

Heck, the Jr news has already showed up on all the dragracing forums. Usually about the only Nascar info that shows up over there is when the Busch brothers get into trouble.

From what I've seen at various tracks over the years I will never underestimate the potential ignorance of Jr fans. :D

Was that the Charlotte race that Jamie Mac won as a sub? I think I recall hearing that on radio .

Big E missed the Southern 500 in 1979 --- broken collarbone.

I am almost certain that David Pearson won that event driving Rod Osterlands car, that Dale normally drove.
