Brett Griffin: Garage talk is that AllStar package being used at all tracks next season

I have so many thoughts if this is actually true, but my main thought is I think I'll be saving my money next year and only attend the 2 Daytona races. I try my hardest to support this sport every year by attending 4-5 races and buying loads of merchandise, but I won't be supporting this. I'll gladly go ahead and create another one of those empty grandstand seats for people to bitch about.

Someone tell Atlanta they can go ahead and repave now. No use in holding out.

What a f****** s*** show. I could tolerate using this package as an alternate for all tracks that have 2 races, but every race at every track? Absolutely despicable. I can't wait to see pack racing at Sonoma :owquitit:
 
Can’t wait to see how the apologists on here will spin this as good. It’s not.....I don’t want mini Daytona and Dega races each week. It’s not racing, it’s a reality show based bastardized form of racing if you can call it racing. If this is in fact 100% true, I’ll be rooting for it to fail big time while taking my twice a year attending races money to Indy Car. What a load of crap this is, who the hell in NASCAR thinks this package is a good idea....like who gets paid to actually think this crap up? “I know what will save this sport and take it into the next 50 years....Restrictor Plate Roval Racing!!!!”

I thought the racing on a whole was much better the last 2 years. Why change what is working? It makes zero sense to why NASCAR would want to do this, it's just going to push fans away rather than attract them.
 
It's socialist racing, what could possibly go wrong?? Nobody can work hard enough or be good enough to separate themselves from the pack, that'll keep us entertained with an endless supply of game 7 moments! :sarcasm:

Unfortunately I'm not sure where it will come from. The media and Sirius have been begging for it since May, the drivers are too afraid to stick their necks out aside from maybe Brad, and the owners only care about how much money they're gonna be spending. We're all hostages to NASCAR's bull**** and it's getting real old.
 
It will only last until they realize they are having "the big one" at every track and having to build new cars every week. The expense of that is way too high and this plate racing won't last long on the 1.5 mile tracks.
 
I hope that the greater racing community feels the same way as most of the fans here do. It would be really depressing to think that a majority of race fans would want to see some kind of dumbed down show that removed much of the talent and skill we see on display each week.

Example: On reddit, during the All-Star race, people were HYPED. Jeff Gluck’s rate the race poll set record numbers. I was pissed because I knew what this could mean. NASCAR listened to the “new shiny thing” crowd right off the bat.

If you go on Reddit now, those same fans are now completely against the move. It’s too late, the sanctioning body is convinced that this is what the people want it seems.
 
If ANYBODY, NASCAR, the owners, the drivers, the fans think there is a one size fits all solution that will make for better racing, then they are idiots. I believe there are PARTS of this package that COULD be useful at certain tracks, but different tracks will need different things, and some shouldn't have ANYTHING done. I can't believe the concept of using this package basically the same at all tracks is even being discussed by otherwise intelligent people.

I seem to remember a few years ago that the buzz was Nascar would be moving to timed events and instead of that stage racing was implemented. Maybe Nascar is floating the idea of plate type racing for all races and will only implement the silliness at some of the events so we will believe that we have dodged a bullet and will still have some tracks with what is generally accepted as real racing.

The original rumor a while back was that all cookie cutters would get the ASR for a total of 14 races not including Daytona and Tally.

I'm thinking, Vegas x2, Texas x 2, Kansas x2, Charlotte x1, Pocono x2, Michigan x2, Chicago x1, Kentucky x1, Indy x1, which would be 14 races. If you add Auto Club and Atlanta that would be 16 races. This leaves every track a mile or less without plates.

that makes more sense than this latest tale. I would think the track owners would have some say yes or no also. With the 1.5's being similar I would think Nascar would concentrate on those first.
 
Seems like an attempt to once again have an Earnhardt compete for the championship. Jeffrey Earnhardt as your 2019 champion! You heard it here first!
 
lol at you guys cliff diving over something Brett said. I do hope they use a different variation at each 1.5 -2.0 which im sure we will.

I didnt see a mini Daytona or Dega race at Charlotte. I saw great racing, passes for the lead and cars with Throttle response.
 
Since May, I've been posting my opposition to this dumbed down "entertainment product" that is being promoted by Nascar as the next big thing. I am not entertained by cars droning around WFO, never lifting, never braking, never testing car control skills. I am *always* entertained by top drivers in a stern test of skill... and the harder it is, the better I like it. The current rules generally produce terrific racing, and flushing that away in search of "casual fan entertainment" would be a travesty.

Yea, nothing like throwing actual racing fans under the bus to try to appeal to the masses with some ridiculous spectacle. In the end, the masses are going to become bored with the "show". Will there be any racing fans left?
