They put on some fine ass racing

Ride the cushion and thank the lawd for them soft walls that can take a pounding without killing you.

Oh ok, count one for the take that dirt and shove it crowd.
I didn't mean I'm against it, just that I hate losing a second normal Bristol race no matter the reason. It could still be worthwhile and I will give it a chance. Don't have to hate it to be sad about losing something you love. The dirt could still be awesome.

After whining that this race was on Easter weekend when the schedule was announced, I will eat my plate of crow as my time off was surprisingly approved, so my son and I will be making the return trip to Bristol this weekend. After seeing clips of the nextgen car turning laps I am cautiously optimistic that this could be a good show.

If all else fails and we get rained out again this weekend, we will just go to the night race this September.

Dirt's fine. It's the side effects I don't like:
  • Losing 250 laps of short track racing
  • Losing the view of what's happening
  • Losing competitive pit stops
I can live with the last one. The middle one makes it very difficult to enjoy this, and I wonder how Fox will react to a second serving. The first is a violation of the laws of nature.

As a fan, I don't see this event as being worth those trade-offs. SMI obviously feels otherwise.

The cool temperature should keep the track from drying out so much so the visibility should be much better, I hope.

Lets run half track dirt and half track concrete!
eh, the pits will be pavement won't help with their speeding though lol.
They are going to have heats and the scoring that goes with that, passing points, deductions etc. It will be fun to watch heads explode about that. It's a proven winner lol.

They hate it and wont be watching but they will complain about everything that happens after.

That sums up how I feel about Bristol Dirt. also, will this be another shifting event? I hope not. but probably?

Yep, by whatever good race/race rating metric you want to use, paved Bristol events are usually still the most favored races among fans. I hope it’s a barnburner this weekend but they’re awfully big shoes to fill.

Last year among our very own race ratings the fall Bristol race was #1, the 2020 races were #1 and #6. In the Gluck poll, paved Bristol races take the top three spots and four of the top six.

Unfortunately, fans were not coming out to the spring race.

I think this is as sure a thing for Larson as the intermediates last year and should be a measuring stick for what they got.

If they don't win, or if they don't have winning *speed* that Kyle can win with, then that team is off the ball this year
