Bud Shootout

How is this in the drivers hands? The tandem took real talent. This is just a crap shoot.
Last year was more of a crap shoot than this, at least they are able to sling shot past they car in front of them, Kyle just proved that at the finish line! Train racing belongs at the local Saturday night bullring not Daytona.

I think all the Boos where from Gordon fans, got to admit Kyle gave them all a driving lesson tonight. Think he has the talent to be the best if he can just get the attitude.

What he meant(forget which one said it) was that when it was all 2 tandem racing, that the car pushing would never be able to go around the car it was pushing on the final lap like that.

Ok. With tandem, there are usually more cars going for the flag. Kyle put on a show, but all the big wrecks kill the whole thing for me. Most of the fastest cars were out at the end.

Yeh I understand what you are saying with that, but at least these guys pass a little better than they could last year. Last year to me was Bizzaro World racing, it seems the drivers like it better also, as was eveident from J Gordon just saying he had a lot of fun out there.

Interestingly...since Kyle spun earlier and I don't think he went in...he apparently used the pedal and the brakes to keep from flat spotting his tires...either that or flat spotted tires don't matter at Daytona.

Either way....impressive win.

If they could figure a way to pack race without all the wrecks, I would like it more. IMO, this wasn't racing for most of the night, it was survival. A ton of guys got taken out by no fault of their own. Then we saw guys who had hung at the back most of the night at the front. I don't like Kyle, but at least he raced all night and got a hell of a win.

Did anyone else notice Newman whipping back and forth across Kez's bumper trying to break him and Marcos up and help Tony?

Yeh it was suvival, but in the modern era when hasn't Daytona or Dega been about survival? I think it was a huge learning session, these guys learned that they have to go back to the original golden rule of not bumping some on in the corner. Both of us could go on and one about this so I'm just going to say we agree to disagree. I will say, I think some progress was made towards better plate racing with tonight, is it perfect? Far from it, but then again I don't think it ever will be any where near perfect.

DW made a good point (wow) can you push for three laps (if your temp is OK) and just blow it up at the end?

That is exactly what happened to Pee Wee! He was spewing steam for a couple laps while pushing the 14, and by the time he crossed the finish line there was no more steam - meaning no more coolant.

Then, when he tried to do his post-race burnout, he couldn't - cause his engine was fried! It sounded like someone doing a "motorboat" on Jennifer Jo Cobb!

Great Run, Pee Wee!!!!! Congratulations on a well-deserved win!!!!!!

BTW, Plate Racing SUCKS!

Plate racing rules will never, ever please everyone. The drivers learned tonight what NOT to do next Sunday if they want to finish the race.
We can bench race all we want to. We can argue 'til the cows come home, but it's up to the drivers in the cars to race under whatever set of rules are in place. As Mopardh9 said, some progress has been made.
It was an expensive testing session for a number of teams, but I have a feeling the lessons will be learned. They do have another "testing" session on Thursday --- the Duels.

I think the duels will be a lot tamer for the most part, drivers won't want to wreck their equipment for the big show. The only guys that will be going all out are the ones on the bubble. I'm actually looking forward to the 500 now, I was kind of dreading what the racing would look like tonight.

They have the safest cars in the world...they make huge $$...they owe us some wrecks

Smash boom bang and Jeff Gordon is upside down/

Like I told you on Twitter, base an entire fan base off something like that and you could turn any fan base into that. Was every single last Dale Jr fan in the world at that race? I don't think so, which means again :bsflag:

It's symbolic. Some of you who are whining, ironically, would jump in to the first Kyle bash thread with both feet. If you don't like it, hit the red "X".
