Changes to stages and bonus points in 2018?

I just like racing, I don't know why, but I do. I'll watch two snails just to see which one gets to the end of the driveway first. Like a junkie needs their heroine, I have to have my racing. It may not be exactly what I would like to see, but I can't do without it. The race is the thing, it's why I watch, and I can't quit.

Just think how much better the racing would be without being gimmick-ed to death as what we are getting today is like a heroin addict injecting mainly laundry detergent and talc instead of the real thing.

In the other thread from last week about this same topic, I said I didn't like the extra stage in the World 600, and don't support the idea of adding extra stages to other races, but I do think Nascar should devise a plan to better promote the four majors as heritage races that have special intrinsic qualities.

As for those who say Nascar does not have real racing among real racers... well, I just question whether you know WTF real racing even is...? No, I don't think you have a clue about that.

I can't say that I have heard anyone say that racing does not occur in Nascar but many don't like the gimmicks and watered down version we are presented with today. I totally understand that there is a constituency that will love/watch anything with the Nascar label attached to it as that is what they do but there are others that are more demanding.

What "they do"'concerns itself with auto racing. NASCAR is just a part of that. You seem blissfully unaware that a person can dislike the rules but still love the game.

Repetitious posts become tiresome.

I get it as you and your ilk get a chubby watching the parade laps which is your prerogative. Some of us don't and instead of having to look for ways to enjoy Nascar it would be nice if the enjoyment came forth organically.

I'd much rather discuss this sort of personalized toilet humor off the board.

Send me a pm and we'll discuss that and perhaps move on to a review of the relationship between alcoholism and erectile dysfunction.

The point is that you are going to tune in and watch Nascar racing because you like it all and it is what you do. I have no issue with this as you and your ilk represent the perfect fan however millions of people have walked away and there are many, both young and old, that demand more. Those of us demanding more should be of no concern to you as you are going to dutifully sit in front of the idiot box and watch it anyway because that is what you do and have always done!

I have no desire to discuss any of your physical or mental limitations publicly and especially privately as that is pervy.

The point is that I and others are lifelong racefans. "We" simply don't feel the need to drone on endlessly about the things we don't appreciate about it in the manner that you do. In the absence of ability to change the things "we" don't like, they are simply endured because as Yogi so eloquently put it "the race is the thing".

You introduced toilet humor into the conversation, not I. Shoot me a pm.

... there are others that are more demanding.
No, it is my opinion that many of the "others" you refer to are less demanding, not more demanding... so focused on details such as lifestyles, specific rules, and formats that they ignore the essentials of what racing is and what it means to be a Racer (with a capital R). They are "demanding" only in that they demand everything to be like it used to be, without critically examining what that was or whether it was ideal. That was my point, and your series of posts does nothing to change my mind.

I don't see a problem with you watching Nascar regardless of what it has become but in the same manner you shouldn't be concerned with others that vent spleen or poke fun at the series. What I don't understand is if you don't like reading the same thing over and over again why on earth do you keep doing it? You can't change what people are discussing and if I use your logic that means you need to accept it or you could just choose to ignore it. By all means enjoy the daylights out of Nascar but don't get sore because others don't see it your way.

I wouldn't even attempt to change your mind as you are going to watch and enjoy till your last breath and that makes you the perfect fan. Others don't like what they see as gimmicky rules, gimmicky championships, a poor car and unsuitable tracks and that is OK too. There is plenty of room in the tent for folks that are going to watch and accept whatever Nascar does and there is plenty of room for those with opposing views.

All things change, it is inevitable. However when a change is made ( stage racing) and it does seem to create better racing and fan enjoyment there is no logic in having stages every 50 laps. I agree they should have less rules and let creativity become what it once was.
There is one change I would welcome and that would be to only allow the pits to be opened under green flag racing. This will surely let them run the race under the allowed time limit unless weather is a factor.

At the risk of being repetitious...

There are several things you don't understand or more correctly choose to pretend not to understand.

I read everything ... that's the mechanism for being fully informed. Many people here share your various opinions and say so. No-one else does that with the grinding regularity exhibited by yourself. I comment on your posts. Period. That's what we do here.

I choose not to bore others with this discourse. The last word is yours.

I have absolutely no issue with you reading every post and then complaining about the complainers as if that is what you enjoy doing have at it. I only read a portion of of what is on the forum and I completely bypass the contributions of some and skim some of the others due to sameness. It doesn't make sense for me to read what experience tells me I won't care for and them compose a post complaining about it but that is just me.

Sometimes the best rebuttal is to say nothing to begin with especially if all your doing is baiting.

You are right, Pete, but as far as I am concerned it is all in good fun and I take no offense. I appreciate all the personalities on here even though I may not see eye to eye with some and that even includes the mini mods, hall monitors and those that complain about complainers. As I said earlier it is a big tent with room for us all and if people continue to read and respond to things they don't care for it is on them.
