Chase Elliott

Chase should just invite Kevin to the local Hooters at the next race... and Kevin should be gracious and except his offer and even offer to buy the first round of ice cold buds to drink while they are both eating some delicious spicy chicken wings and checking out the new Hooters uniforms...or maybe not, because that might fire Delana up and then she will start a whole new different feud with both of them. :D

The F1 world is SO different from other forms of motorsports, that even if somebody from outside that world could get an opportunity (highly unlikely) I don't think that anyone who didn't come up through their feeder system would have much of a shot at success. Probably even less than any of their drivers coming to NASCAR would. I don't think it's as much of a raw ability thing as just what you have been trained to do. I think Indycars kind of ruins drivers for stock cars.

Didn't seem to hurt Tony Stewart.

Didn't seem to hurt Tony Stewart.
Tony Stewart was in Indycar about ten minutes. He ran 26 races over five years, and two of those years and starts were one-off Indy rides. He also didn't come up through any of the open wheel road course feeder series like the vast majority of Indycar drivers have done sine the 1970's, so he never really got those habits ingrained in him the way that Danica for instance did. In fact, he never ran a single road race in an Indycar. If Danica would have had Tony's background, I think she would have been a halfway decent NASCAR driver.

Do you have any idea what the Indy Racing League is? Or USAC midgets? or Triple Crown Champ? Just what kind of B.S. are you trying to spread now.
The Triple Crown consists of a Silver Crown car championship, a Midget car championship and a Sprint car Championship. Stewart is only one of two drivers who was a champion in all three series IN THE SAME YEAR.

1997 Indy Racing League Champion
1995 USAC Triple Crown Champion
1994 USAC National Midget Series Champion

First off, I specified ROAD COURSE feeder series, not USAC open wheel cars, and the Indy Racing League of your definition lasted about four years and died a quick death. By 2002, there were only TWO drivers with USAC experience in the IRL top twenty, and they were 13th and 18th. Tony was in the IRL a very brief time, racing for a billionaire against mostly underfunded teams with mostly second and third tier drivers that couldn't get rides in the CART Series at the time. Yes, Tony can drive an Indycar, but lets not make his time there more than it was.

Well Tony Stewart is the most talented American race car driver of all time.

Imo, of course. If he joined HMS in 96 when be was recruited, he probably woulda taken a title away from Jeff. Or Labonte, and definitely more races.

I'll back you here.

Smoke was Kyle Larson before Kyle Larson, and that's an understatement. Tony is the most talented American race car driver of all time.

I will die on that hill. He's the embodiment of American autoracing.

nonsense. What do you think USAC is? they had both dirt and pavement racing.

Hey don't forget I came from Indy also... and I was 3X Circle City Buffet eating Champion. I started in the White Castle feeder series and worked my way up to the Golden Coral. :dpepsi::D

Absolutely, and he is about to go over 330 mph.:booya:

What the hell does THAT have to do with anything?

1) USAC racing of all types gives drivers a good chance to succeed in STOCK CARS, no question, never IN question.

2) Since the 1970's almost no SUCCESSFUL Indycar drivers have come into the sport through USAC racing, even during the formative days of the IRL.

3) Tony Stewart was an anomaly who showed up at PRECISELY the right time. Two or three years earlier or later, he probably doesn't even GET an Indycar ride, and when he WAS there, he was facing the weakest competition in the history of Indycar racing. That's not a knock on Tony, it's just a fact.

4) The actual feeder series that 90+% of all Indycar drivers have used in the last forty years, along with Formula One, seems to be a hindrance to drivers trying to transition to stock cars.

This isn't hard folks, stop having kneejerk reactions.

Well, Mr, Foyt, Mr. Andretti and the late Mr. Gurney might have something to say about that. I also wouldn't sell Mr. Jeff Gordon short. He was pretty successful at every discipline he tried, and paved the way for Tony. However you want to look at it, Tony Stewart is in VERY elite company.

All relative. Based off what set of criteria?

Butting in to post something about the guy in the thread title.

I would be hard to argue differently. Stewart has quite a pedigree

OK mister, show me where any of those points are wrong.
look up Andretti. Foyt and Stewart is above for starters. Some drivers came from road courses, but not that many back in the day. I'm sure you will try to find some B.S. way to crawfish out of it.

Do you actually read and comprehend ANYTHING I say? The ENTIRE point was that since roughly 1980, basically no successful Indycar drivers have come up through the USAC ranks. Tony Stewart DID, but it was a total anomaly. The early days of the IRL were the equivalent of the XFL. They might have been PLAYING the same game, but it clearly wasn't the same as the big league, and I say that as somebody that was hoping it would succeed.

yeah figured it would be crawfish time. Yeah I have a real problem understanding. Why don't you show ALL of these 80's drivers you are harping about that ALL came thru somewhere, who knows.

You DO realize that the LAST driver with any degree of USAC oval racing experience to win the Rookie of the year in ANY of the Indycar series was Pancho Carter in 1974, right?

Where are all of these racers you are talking about? Get busy proving your point instead of running your mouth.

Gordon and Johnson were better in a stock car for sure.

I'm talking Stewart's raw talent, and his ability to win championships in any form of autoracing. I'm talking raw talent, and nothing else.

He’s multi disciplined but he wasn’t absolutely dominant in any series his raced in. I wouldn’t say he was the best, but had the opportunity to race in multiple series and was highly successful in all of them. I’m not sure it’s fair to compare him to other drivers who never raced in other series.

Maybe "versatile" is a bitter adjective then.

And +1 one to Nitro Dude's comment!
