Going back to the rope that broke on the camera --- it travels at a high rate of speed. I would think it would be subject to intense scrutiny for weak/worn spots, and replaced after a couple of uses.

Yeah TRL..it's amazing how few folks understand the simple truth of how multiple strains weaken things. It doesn't take much sense to realize things will break eventually and that you have to check em out to look for wear patterns to identify the highest risk areas.

Heck - I'm not even a mechanical engineer but I know that.
