Cup RACE thread --- Bristol dirt

Didn’t Briscoe straight up wipe Hamlin out at Indy after being black flagged for course cutting?
Yes. I was jumping st saying to someone that I knew Briscoe was going to try something like this tonight since I remember that incident and it showed what he would do to win (remember that Indy incident would have been for the win if he hadn't already been black flagged).

Undecided on my opinion of this, as there have been some damn good drivers with that aggressive mentality, and Briscoe seems to be really figuring out cup this year.

When you’re leading, there’s not much more you can do if your lead isn’t insurmountable except hope the second place guy drives with some respect.

And because of the win and you’re in format, Briscoe literally had nothing to lose with that move. He’s still in the playoffs.
yep, and Reddick probably knew that also that Briscoe had nothing to lose

Reddick definitely made it sound like it was his fault he got dumped, and then instead of a classic Bristol throwdown we saw a kumbaya session lol

Not when you are stupid, it just makes a person look like the fool they are
Yeah, in that case you're probably not bright enough or self aware enough to be assertive in a boundary kind of way... as agression =\=assertiveness generally. But that's just a different conversation. Anyway.

It was a case of, "He shouldn't be that close to begin with." scenario.

It's not often you see it from that perspective. Odd, but I like it. Find that little extra to run away with it.

Kudos to Briscoe for manning up but this is exactly the mentality these young drivers now have that I hate.

“If you ain’t first you’re last”
“Just send it”
“Win at all costs”
“Do whatever it takes”

or
wait til the leaders take themselves out and hack into a win

I thought it was cool too, just different to see a lack of temper after getting wiped out for the win and being apologetic about it at that. These guys are pros for sure

Was dominating one race and had a tire blow, was 2nd in another when a tire blew. Not sure how his timid mindset caused those to occur, but I am willing to hear how.
Who knew having a timid mindset as well would result in two xfinity championships, one for Childress of all teams and nearly a truck championship for BKR. Strange

These drivers are professionals and they are just going to have to practice and get better. It's to exciting not to be a points race. I think the race will just get better every year. I sure hope they do it again next year because I want to go and there is no way I'm traveling that far if it's on pavement.
Tbh yes I'd prefer it as a points race but at the same time dirt seems like an amazing idea for the All Star race instead IMO.

Damn. Guess you’ve never heard of Dale Earnhardt before. Well boy let me tell ya…

These young guys know they will be around for a long time

Bristol set to bang out a new commercial “Its Bristol Baby!”….

Reddick and Briscoe could be shown canoeing together, playing a friendly match of tennis, and then finish off with lemonades and smiles “get your tickets for Septembers Bristol Night Race!”

I don't know what Briscoe was supposed to do other than what he did. This ain't a sport for gentlemen. He can be like Mark Martin and never win a championship or he can take the win. Go for it!

What in the actual hell is wrong with Briscoe? Glad he drives like that tonight.....but really?

I still can't get over how many fans always want to throw the towel in every time there is just a very small shower. I think the rain delays were less then 45 minutes tonight total. The last one couldn't have been over 10 or 15 minutes, but everyone was ready to pack it in. It's a darn good thing NASCAR doesn't have that same mentality, or we would have missed a lot of good finishes.

Reddick has been running up front ya think?
I know, I'm just saying according to some he's not aggressive enough on the track neither can he assert himself to other drivers after the fact...

This is why I brought up his run in with Custer, we've seen Reddick get testy and hold his own. Just once again, every driver is different in how they deal with situations.

Not every person wants to fight or needs to, but rest assured Tyler will remember this night. Seen it happen many a times with that first win, it takes a lot of heartbreak at times to get that first one.

What could he do? The only solution was to try to out run Briscoe? He was disappointed he couldn't and Briscoe was close enough to try a hail mary.

So where was Truex tonight?
