Cup RACE thread --- Bristol, Rd. 2

Sandbag karma

I think part one for him was falling off the pace at MIS when the race became important and part 2 was last night when he blew a tire (perhaps due to over driving and/or a bad setup?) and finished 7 laps down. My guess is he would have finished 3-4 laps down without the tire issue as he was slower than molasses in January.

Lol, Tony Stewart is underrated and Kyle Busch is overrated? Do you see what you type. Tony is a pure legend of racing in general, how is he underrated? Any one that underates him just doesn't know what he's done.

Again, I'm talking about how his cup career is "measured" and publicized, same context as the previous discussion..man you have missunderstood every one of my posts here lol.

I'm done with this. Congrats to KB. He always is Bristol to me.

He and Carl have been the guys to beat there since 2007

Did anyone hear why BKez was being passed like he was nailed to the ground after his tire blew? The car did not appear damaged but it ran like it was which is why I was wondering. Also what is up with JLo? I know he hasn't forgot how to drive.

Those fords are junk

You have to realize Tony is retired and at one point was publicized just as much as Kyle is now. Kyle is in his prime and one of the top stars in NASCAR, so NBC is going to give him the publicity as its good for business. I'm sorry I just see words like overrated and Kyle Busch and underated and Tony Stewart and it blows my mind.

Tony Stewart is an all time great. First ballot HOF.

Kyle Busch is well on his way to that. But he's got too much career left to be prematurely be crowned as a "legend" or the GOAT (lol)

People just need to enjoy the ride in sports. Everyone wants to crown the dominant player of an era as the GREATEST EVAAA.

It's all subjective. If Larson thinks he's the GOAT then he certainly can. Tony is a legend of racing not just NASCAR. Kyle will go down as one of the greats and he get the credit he deserves.

a couple of highlights in the race for me, was young Jones hammering on a couple of cars to gain a couple of positions. Shows me he has arrived and is willing to ruffle a few feathers, Larson doing some heavy duty blocking to try to keep his lead, also some aggressive driving. Larson has done it before, but it is good to see. These newer guys aren't buying the "code" that some of the others like Jabba were always talking about when he had a wheel in his hand. There weren't any start fixing on restarts, and as usual at Bristol, you don't have a whole lot of control about running safe and staying out of trouble, so hammer down.

Not really. He's what 7th, 8th in points?
I mistyped, I thought he was only 7 points above 16th when I typed that I could swear they showed that graphic. I think the pressure around the 24 team has been turned up, they are not in what I would call a good place, maybe a safe place

That's not true at all.

The only threat to the 24 and the 20/1 getting in the playoffs at this point is new winners.

Okay so they can just go out and ride around in 30th the next two races while trying new stuff and show up ready to dominate at Chicagoland. My fault.

Jones is gonna win this year.
Yes for sure and Suarez has been running better to where it wouldn't be a shock if he won in the next 2 races. I think Jones could win Richmond. But what do I know the 24 team is a lock, nothing to see here.

It doesn't mean they don't have to improve the team.

They need to find speed if they want to assure their spot in the playoffs and if they get there get out of the first round.

But they aren't exactly teetering on the edge with 2 races left.

I disagree. Jones and Logano could win in the next 2 races and if Chase has another rough finish or two where does that leave them? You're assuming that everything will go well for them the next 2 races and they are a clinch to get in. I say it's not as easy as you're making it out to be.

Jones and Logano could win the next two races.s

So could Chase Elliott.

No sense playing in hypotheticals. Reality is, at this point in time Chase Elliott is safely inside the Chase bubble.

Things "could" change after the next two races. But there isn't much to worry about at this point. Two more new winners is highly improbable.

That was probably the "playoff grid". They move everybody with a win to the top of the list when they show that, which is why it appears that Chase is 15th in points.
