Cup RACE thread --- Bristol

The Vortex's created last week by the tires that don't give, messed up the air that has by now circulated it's way down to the Gulf.

Thatswhat created the hurricane that's ricocheting its way back up to the Appalachian's and fixing to commence to effing everything up.

We never had this problem when they ran the Bristol races during the last weekend of August like they supposed to just before the Darlington weekend.

As it stands the Daytona HQs is conveniently getting off Scotch-Free from the manufactured weather that will soon commence to
shidding on the Panhandle and the Appalachians instead. Big Bill would'nadda done this way.
It's the car.

People do realize that no matter when a race is scheduled it might rain.....right? LOL Of all the complaints I can make about NASCAR that is just a joke.
You'd think so but let there be a ten-minute rain delay and the whining begins.

"They should have know that it always <rains / snows / floods / burns> in <FL / TX / TN / NC / GA / SC / IN / CA / etc> in <Feb / Mar / Apr / May / Jun / Jul / Aug / Sep / Oct / Nov>!! They should swap this race with the <one before / one after>!!!"

Usually accompanied by rants about how NASCAR's decisions are inconveniencing the fans at the track.

This brings out the R-F weatherman in force. This in turn activates the R-F race schedulers who loudly proclaim it's all Nascar's fault. A spirited discussion between said weatherman and the schedulers ensues and this alerts the media geeks who declare that everything would be just fine if the race was moved up an hour. and then it's time for a proper rain tire discussion.

Let NASCAR wait and see if the race can be started / restarted; that's cruelly putting the attendees and viewers through an delay of indeterminate duration.

Let it postpone to Monday; that's inconsiderately ignoring everyone who hasn't figured out how to record it or hasn't learned they need to schedule an extra day of vacation and an extra night of hotel just in case.

Let it decide the race has run past halfway and it's complete; that's depriving everyone of the full race distance (and the obligatory GWC curtain calls).

Another heartbreaking part of all this is all the unfortunate things Kyle Larson recently said about Bristol's "normal" lack of tire wear.

EXCUSE ME, MR. LARSON, BUT THEY RAN THIS NIGHT RACE IN SEPTEMBER AND NOT IN AUGUST, THE WAY THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO:
A DIFFERENT KIND OF AIR AND EFFECT ON THE TIRES!

Unless Mr. Larson is a meteorologist who understands the differences between the months and has an Engineering Rubber Degree, he should stop shilling for NASCAR and excusing them for the deadly hurricane they have created.

He definitely should have contacted the tire experts here at R-F first. We developed Gumby and Pokey, we could have easily developed a proper tire that Larson could have decimated the field at Bristol.

He would also get schooled on how to give the proper adjustment feedback to Cliff as well. Seeing him neglect the knowledge of our intellectuals sure shows a lack of commitment on his part, like he doesn't give a damn about being any better in a cup car.
He wouldn't be that way with Cliff in a WoO car.

Yeah I agree. Cliff should be popping a top knot on his head when he keeps wrecking the damn car. And that kid of his riding on the car, that's blasphemy, only Mr. Hendrick with Elliott driving can ride on the car.

Why would Cliff be in a WoO car?
Just one more hyyn

It is just one more hyenas act of the man's most way deep down contempt and disrespect for racing.

Many R-Fers have already expertly figured out he doesnt want to be in a cup car, but maybe he hates every kind of racing.
I bet way way deep down inside he would rather be bird watching and wishes he had married Miss Jane.

Ever notice you never see Kyle Larson and Jethro Bodine together? Makes you wonder...

I agree he is just an uppity little Jethro, cause his generation of men just ain't up to Jetho's level of manliness.
The general public is light years behind the stuff an RF expert easily recognizes.

Probably can't even do his times or his goesintos. That's why he doesn't give Cliff decent feedback. (Notice how I brought that full circle?)

The kid will be home from school in a couple minutes and I will have to get real serious, then

LMAO!!! OK man. Me and the masses all saw a boring but you picked through and found the proof that it was not. Sure thing. Let's just agree to disagree and move on. I think that's best. https://www.whiskeyriff.com/2024/09...ristol-night-race-sucked-so-bad-were-baffled/

Good lord I do not know how much more clear I can be. I'm not saying the race WASNT boring.

I'm strictly disputing the narrative that there was no passing. That's it. I'm not speaking to how boring or entertaining the race was.

We can have a boring race WITH lots of passing.

The problem though is that I am not whining - Just pointing out the obvious. We get it - you will defend it because Larson won. I am a big picture guy though and care more about the product then who wins. I really don't understand what's so hard about separating those things. Yeah I like seeing my guy do well but if it's a lousy race that's a problem to me.

You and your little crew are really just wasting your time trying to get to me. You never will. You can "laugh" at what I say and call it "trolling" all you want but thankfully I was warned about what a "troll" you can be as soon as I started hanging around here so I kind of knew what was coming and you do EXACTLY what I was told you would so you are nothing but predictable. . If you disagree with something that's cool but it'd be helpful if you make a point instead of just laughing or calling someone a troll. That just shows you have no real argument.

If you're claiming ME and @StandOnIt are part of the same crew, then you have entirely lost the plot, he and I disagree on nearly everything.

It wasn't an exciting race. I'm just disputing the idea that there wasnt passing. You choosing to interpret that as a defense of the race is entirely on you.

Good grief, do you just argue to count key strokes? He said it was boring, you said it was boring, he proved there was passing. But yet you want to agree to disagree.

He's a great poster. I expect better from him than to just ignore my words and argue against something I've never said, tbh.

In a fever dream, I see Nascar get desperate. Tells HMS/JGR/Penske to build their own front and rear clips for the Next Gen center section. 9" Ford diff, 3-link rear suspension, use the coil-over shocks. Front end goes back to "conventional spindles with double a-arm suspension" and back to worm & ball steering box. Remove all the aero trickery from under the car. Test together at Martinsville.

16" steel wheels with inner liners, tire width back to what they had before and 5 lug wheels.

Bet be 2 seconds lap faster than what they have now. And waaaay tougher. Hate this sports car crap with broken toe-links.

I'll add, whichever clips/geometry is faster, that's the new spec parts. Let the teams build them. They can hire enough welders to do it in couple weeks. I see clips for sale on Facebook Marketplace. You can bet it's some of the "fired" fab guys from the big teams.

Team needs maybe half-dozen front and rear clips for short tracks? Even if they don't roll it out till next season, which would be the best choice, these guys can do it really quickly if you let them. The guys that BUILT cars for 40 years know more about it than NASCRAP.

Guarantee all the suspension parts to assemble that clip is available already built. Maybe even from places like Jegs, Speedway Motors, HOWE, etc. Maybe just grab one of these, adapt as nec, test. They might need different crossmembers for different engines? This CAN be fixed and not spend stupid money. The GEN 7 Car WAS stupid money.

I might be guilty of misinterpreting what you were trying to say. I will give you that. :)

I enjoyed the race because my driver won, obviously. But I hold no illusion that objectively, it was anything but a somewhat boring race, and not the best broadcast. There was passing, but the broadcast moved around a lot, and then focused mostly on the "stories". The Nascar app has on boards for all drivers, it's awesome, and you get to see things the broadcast doesn't necessarily cover.

But in any event, let's move on, we're good ;)

Man I need to check that out. It's getting to be the time of year where I am more likely to watch the race live so would love to have some onboard views.
