Cup Race Thread --- Chicago

I thought they were gonna do the slime in victory lane, did they not do it? I forgot and switched the channel.

And no one really cared and cried foul them years really. But I guess we Truex can't be fast without it being fishy.

It's not fishy. I just think this generation of cup cars highlight the season's best team more than in the past. From an entertainment standpoint, I personally just find that less enjoyable.

2005 may have been my favorite season of the last 10+ years for me. That's my standard of judgement I suppose

Would you enjoy it if it was a driver you liked?

No, to be honest. I'd still criticize it.

In 2008, I loved seeing my driver win. But I didn't exactly love that from a competitive standpoint that Carl and Kyle were so much better than everyone that year, it got predictable at the intermediates. Again, that's why 2005 was my favorite season.

Nobody much cared when it was the 4 car every week !!! the fastest car often wins though. its a by product of crappy mile and a half tracks

I did. ;) But thats all she wrote. I still kove the sport, always will

I think Harv and Chase could be sleepers
They can definitely both get there, I don't know if they'll have the raw pace to win at Hometead though. Which is probably necessary with the way the first three championship races have gone.

Exactly, it happened a few good times. Like I laugh at the way members are on this forum. He and the team found away to get speed and it's beating their driver so they don't like it.
What if our driver has been retired since 2015 and dont want to see the Truex show on 1.5 mile ovals because we are a bit fatigued by it?

Who ever would have thought the 78 would be your dagger

Before the season started I surely didn't. Was sure it be someone like Johnson, or Kyle Busch who put me down. Once Truex started to show the speed I figured it would be him once he got win number 3.

I want to see him win the next 9 races. Give you guys something to really bitch about. Back when Awesome Bill/Rusty Wallace/Wonder Boy was winning 10 a season...oh wait...some people bitched about it then too. Nevermind!:partytime

I personally do not have a problem when the fastest car wins.

Making a list of excuses?

Right here. Where is my source that Kyle demanded a new crew?

Where's Revman?????????

Right here.

when in the hell did that happen bud?

2014....from the Charlotte test on.

Making a list of excuses?

For?

I don't think any of us have issue with them being the best team. The issue I and believe others have is that they are fastest, by far, every single week..literally every single week like the 18 in Xfinity.

We haven't seen that in Cup in a while. Leading 1500+ laps in a season was a lot. Now teams are going into the 2000's. If it's any consolation, the 48, or the 20 (with Stewart) NEVER lead over 2000 laps
I thought this was an interesting point. Generally, there has been a difference from the Gen-5 to Gen-6 eras.

2017-MTJ (1723, on pace for 2297)
2016-MTJ (1809)
2015-Harvick (2294)
2014-Harvick (2137)
2013-Johnson (1985)

2012-Johnson (1744)
2011-Kyle Busch (1455)
2010-Johnson (1315)
2009-Johnson (2238)
2008-Johnson (1959)
2007-Gordon (1300)
2006-Stewart (1360)
2005-Stewart (1845)
2004-Johnson (1312)
2003-Gordon (1639)
2002-Earnhardt Jr. (1068)
2001-Gordon (2320)

Statistics always ruin a good emotional irrational rant.

I think the competition between the 4 tightens up. Newman's best car in 2014 was at Homestead and he ran top 5

I was wrong about Johnson leading 2000 laps.

But thanks for pointing this out. Validates the point I was making, more laps lead for the fastest team in the gen 6

Also, SHOCKED about 2002

24 drivers led 100+ laps that year. 13 led 100+ laps in 2016. 12 so far this year. Pretty incredible how much competition there was then.
