Cup RACE thread --- Daytona

Spotters are reporting camera men packing up , sounds like were gonna be under a weather delay soon.

No matter what happens tonight, I'm still giving this race a zero on the Fan Council survey, because it's not of 4th of July weekend

Here is the latest Daytona radar. The track is pretty much where the dot for Daytona is.

There is a small storm passing south of the track as we speak. Since the storm is moving east and it's not raining at the track, I expect this storm will stay south of the track.

Looking at the radar, the cell should pass "safely" to the south. Likely lightning in the "area" but is obviously just outside the set perimeter; usually 7-12 miles.

I feel like we're trending towards some thunder and lightning on the track....

Stopping for lightning is so dumb. No one goes anywhere anyway and lightning doesn't care if cars are running. And most of the time it's not even close.

I was just hoping for a delay so I can focus on this Fantasy Football Draft I'm about to be doing LOL.

Hey did you all know Jimmie Johnson is a 7 time champion who is retiring at the end of the year and tonight is his last shot at making the playoffs?

As someone who works in the golf industry that's a crazy statement. You don't mess with lightning. I run like hell when the alarm goes off because i've seen what lightning can do. We had 3 deaths pre-alert system at my club due to a strike. I know at some sporting events the options to "escape" are limited but being in a concourse or in your car is WAY better than up in he stands.

I do think that the standard 30 minute wait after the last strike can be ridiculous when we're talking about storms that can be moving 50-60 mph. They can be out of range in 5-10 minutes.
