I’ll tell you guys this. Hendrick and Gibbs would dominate this sport like Merc/RB if we ran this low spoiler, 750 HP on a weekly basis. Fords are SLOWWW
 
Larson has more second place finishes then any active driver and hasn’t won any of the 5 times he won stages 1 and 2. Fade me

On a lighter note, Bowman my 3rd favorite has his first multi win season and seems to be on the verge of a breakout year. He made the round of 8 last season
 
I wonder if all of the Hendrick's in unison will say now THAT was an old fashion ass whooping
Dear God....If they bring those set ups back in the Playoffs, WE are screwed. Wait. Big win. Nice trophy. Really small picture.
 
I just wanted to pop in to say how impressed I am with HMS today.. this was a historic race imo and for this driver lineup to be the one to get him a 1,2,3,4.. just amazing to me
Great win, but I betcha Toyota and Ford are concentrating on races that matter in the Playoffs. My two cents.

I think he’s right. Why would the manufacture that won the championship last season care about winning it this season? /s

Just thinking about Greg Ives’s resume. I think he might be one of, if not the, most underrated crew chiefs in the garage today.

Started as a shop mechanic for the Jeff Gordon #24 team.

Was lead engineer on the Jimmie Johnson #48 when they won their 5 consecutive championships. It sounds like he doesn’t get enough credit for the dominance of the #48 team.

Went on to crew chief for Regan Smith in the Xfinity series and landed a podium points finish, then won the Xfinity championship with Chase Elliott. This was JRM’s first championship.

Moved to the Cup Series as Crew Chief and has sat on the box for Dale Jr., Jeff Gordon, and Alex Bowman.

All of this and he’s only 41 years old.

His career kind of mirrors Chad Knaus’s as he climbed up the ranks. Bowman is in fantastic hands.

Your manufacturer didn't win the championship. Your driver did. While deserving, he was fortunate.

Chevy is still trying to sqeeze validity out of their new car. Last year for that. Taking everything they can get their hands on.
 
Bowman has really started to reach his full potential multi-win year, love to see it. That was the right choice for the 48 car. 👍👍
Alex has had the potential for multi wins in a season for a while now but his luck just hasn't been kind to him the past 2 years. But, Alex has learned from a few of his own mistakes and yesterday Greg Ives gave him a pretty good car and the fast mistake free pit stops really made this team excel in this race. If they can put together more races like that then I think they will secure a few more wins before the season is over. I just hope one of those wins will be in Phoenix. :)

Not sure that I understand your question, but I'm not sure you are looking for a discussion....and I'm not sure you are interested in having one. Bottom line....I think Toyota and Ford went in a different direction with regard to how they saw the importance of this race....and their resources went with those opinions. Look where MY Toyotas have won this year. That didn't happen by accident.
 

Weird, Fox showed the stop was an 11.8 second stop and it was the same for the #9 team, and I think the #5 team had a 13.3 second stop. Now I’m curious to know the actual times since Fox flubbed those numbers.

I’m just trying to understand how you differentiate the manufacturer that the teams work with to win a championship versus the “manufacturer’s championship” itself.

You said you believe Ford and Toyota didn’t prioritize this race over playoff races. Did you mean for the manufacturers championship or the individual teams that drive for Ford and Toyota? Because I said that Chevrolet won the championship last year and you said that a driver won the championship rather than Chevrolet - but that driver drives a Chevrolet.

Roush Racing accomplished the feat once (Homestead, 2005)
Peter DePaolo Racing accomplished it twice (Dec. 30, 1956 at Titusville and April 7, 1957 at North Wilkesboro) - credit to Jayski for that one

Now Hendrick Motorsports has accomplished it for the first, but likely not the last, time. With his oldest driver being just 28 years old (Larson, incidentally, is 9 months older than Bowman), Hendrick's lineup seems to be set for a long time to come. Finishing 1-2-3-4 is incredibly hard to do and still won't happen often, but with his current talent-filled lineup, it seems quite reasonable to predict that Rick Hendrick could become the first owner to accomplish that at least 3 times at some point within the next few years.

Also, William Byron extends his consecutive top 10 streak once again, and it now stands at 11 races. (Does anyone know what the record is? Richard Petty had 17 consecutive top 10s in 1967 but I'm not sure if that's the all-time record.)

And I was most impressed by the 8th-11th place finishers:
- Reddick (8th) has finished either 7th or 8th in 5 of the last 7 races.
- Suarez (9th) got an outstanding finish just 2 weeks after coming home 11th at Kansas. This new teams is really surprising people.
- Custer (10th) tied his best finish of the season in what has been a disappointing sophomore effort so far.
- Wallace (11th) came close to getting 23XI Racing's first top 10 finish, but still had a solid run and that should boost this new team's confidence.
